Lexus problems I just had a new battery installed in my 2003 es300. The check engine light has come on different times over the last few weeks and then goes off for a long time. The car will start, but won't idle. The engine runs great with my foot on the gas. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Adjust the rpm, near the throttle body. Or clean the throttle body. If neither of those work, look into the idle air control valve.

SOURCE: '98 Lexus ES300 Won't Start--But Has New Battery!

If your is exhibiting the same signs as a dead battery it really sounds like your alternator is bad. If you are handy, you can remove the alternator and take it to an autoparts store like autozone and they will test it for you. This is not a hard job to do, usually 2 electrical connections, 3-5 mounting bolts and you have to pop the belt off. Just reverse it to install a new one. Good luck! - Nick

ok, i tell you 3 possible causes.
check maf sensor connection , check fuel pressure regulator (max press fuel in rail 40 psi) , check engine compression (min 95 psi ) if less this cause spark plugs wet and not start

I had the same problem with mine, mechanic said it was a result of the O2 sensor (s) needing replaced. He replaced them and problem was solved.

SOURCE: My '97 Lexus es300 is blowing a fuse every time I

I hope you must have realized that extra current is causing the bulb to fail. Now-a-days there isonly one fuse for the back lights, so either a higher capacity fuse plus make sure the wiring at the tail has not stiffened up and the insulation cracked. May be there is a short which makes the full current flow through the wiring is causing the bulb to fuse. Best would be to replace the entire tail light assembly wiring with a fresh set......................sodeep

What is causing my son's 2000 lexus es300 to crank but not start.

Check the fuel pressure and make sure there is spark to the plugs.

You can just Google how to do those two things and find the answer.

2003 lexus es300 won't start... radio lights and windows work. Tried a jump start, still doesnt work...

Are you saying the engine cranks but won't start, or the engine won't crank ?
If the engine does not crank, you would check for voltage at the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch as well as the ground connections.

I have a 2001 Lexus ES300 that has been fixed way too many times. The lights Check Engine and Trac Off are now on and I am out of patience. It has approx. 110000 miles and runs otherwise great. Can't...

Hi. If you find an answer to your problem with the trac off/engine light comming on way too often, please tell me so I can get my wifes 2001 es300 fixed. The dealer claims to have replaced the computer and numerous sensors on it's many trips back to the car lot. Once, it was kept for two months with the same problem comming back after 72 hours of regular use. I found, if you disconnect the battery for app. 20 seconds, then rehook it the lights on the dash go off for about 3 days. Help!!!

Last week, my 1998 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start (clicking sound) and I thought it was the battery. I jump started it but noticed that it still made the clicking sound, for my first couple of tries, it did...

If car wont start and clicking sound is heard this is a battery related or starter related, if your car battery is in good condition (which I think it was) then the problem is your starter, have it check to confirm.

When I start my 2003 ES300 smoke comes out the exhaust

The same thing happened to my 2003 ES300 - the smoke is coming from the oil seeping into the motor's cylinders. This is the classic "Oil Gelling" problem in Toyota and Lexus vehicles. There is a factory recall on it, but it only covers to 2002 ES300 not 2003. The Lexus dealer confirmed my "oil gel" problem and went to bat for me with Lexus - they got the repair approved - Thank you Mr Local Lexus Dealer! The cost was nearly $4,000 - paid for by Lexus.

2002 Lexus ES300 Check Engine Light

You can disconnect your battery for a short period of time, 5-10 minutes should do it. There is no guarantee that the check engine light will not come back on in time, but it will make it go away at least temporarily. If you go to Autozone, 99% of the time they will hook up a code reader and diagnose your problem. It may be a minor and/or inexpensive fix. Please vote appropriately and leave feedback. I hope this helps and good luck.

My check engine trac off light came on

This happened to me as well, just a few weeks after buying our 1999 ES300. Took it into Lexus for regular maintenance and to check this out. Apparently, if you don't replace the gas cap correctly and tight enough this can cause the 'trac off' light to come one. It will go off a little while after the cap has been replaced correctly. This also happened with my 2006 Murano, 'check engine soon' message.
