SOURCE: jaguar xj6 not starting

Yes you can check the Crank & Cam Sensors they can control spark and fuel. You can test them by finding out the normal resistance and then testing yours for their resistance. Do you have a way to scan the car? Did it quit while driving?

Fuel pump is bad or plugged fuel filter it seems. Crack the line from the filter leading towards the engine first. If gas starts squirting out fast, you have good pressue. If not the filter is plugged or a bad pump. How old is the fuel filter by chance? If original its plugged up by now

SOURCE: i have a 1988 jaguar xj6 and the outside door

If you havent' already broken the door handles tugging on them, inside the door you will find a linkage with a tensioner adjustment. You need to tighten that linkage adjuster. You will find if you take off the inside door panel and pull the linkage manually the door retanier will actuate. The job is a PIA, and requires a couple of very long, very small box wrenches. Dont attempt to adjust the linkage without loosening the retaining nut, the linkage will shear right off, thus making the outer door handles permanently locked Good luck.

SOURCE: 1988 Jaguar xj6 No forward in the automatic trans rev works fine

the linkage is just a slight bit off, it parks between gears when you shift into the slots. Disassemble the shifter from the center console, and slowly move just the cable its self between the positions and see if you have forword gears. When you find and sync the gears, then tighten the cable to the shifter so the positions match the notches in the shifter.
