Sounds like the speedometer head. its cheaper to actually replace it rather than repair. find one close to your mileage . usually around $50.00

SOURCE: 1996 Crown Vic, Valve noise under heavy acceleration

No use what's in there, but have the engine de-carboned by a Ford dealer, or remove the octane adjust shorting bar located near the ignition module (retards timing 2 degrees), this will in most cases cure the issue unless there is allot of carbon in the cylinders. There are also methods of ing this de-carbon procedure at home, check on the internet for tips.

SOURCE: my 4.6 idles erratically.

try the following, if that doesn't correct it u may need to replace the air bypass valve.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: 2007 crown vic 4.6 l idles high on startup

This sounds like a normal condition. What happens is the cold start emission reduction component monitor(software program in the computer) is running.
Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor
The Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor was introduced for the 2006 MY on vehicles that meet the
LEV-II emission standards. The monitor works by validating the operation of the components of the system
required to achieve the cold start emission reduction strategy, namely retarded spark timing and elevated idle
airflow.
When the CSER strategy is enabled, the idle air control system will request a higher idle rpm, elevating engine
airflow. While this CSER elevated airflow is requested, the low airflow test compares the measured idle airflow from
the MAF sensor to the commanded idle airflow from the idle air control strategy.

SOURCE: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE CAR SURGES

Check your throtle position sensor. You need to check the code when the light is on.

SOURCE: my overdrive light is flashing

If your overdrive light is flashing, it is trying to tell you that there is a transmission failure. You will have to scan your powertrain control module to find out what is wrong.

1996 dodge ram 1500 5.9 2wheel drive automatic code reading multiple cylender misfire, also speed odometer reading 10 to 15mph slower than actual speed ie 55 is actually 80

I need to verify something about your vehicle. Are youan the original owner and did your speedometer suddenly start reading slower, and was reading normally before? Or did you just find out recently because you got a ticket or somebody clocked your speedometer by riding along side you? If you are not the original owner, I would check the tire height rating from the manufacturer versus the rating of the tire you have on the vehicle now. If the manufacturer installed a "G" series and you have a "H" series, for example, your speedometer will read slower than your actual speed as the "H" series is a taller tire. The higher the letter in the series, the taller the tire will be. (larger in diameter)
Regarding your random cylinder misfire, I would recommend replacing the spark plug wires. Also, the be sure to use the conveluet heat shields that surround the wires that are routed around the exhaust manifold. Be sure to route them correctly or the excessive heat will cause them to break down prematurely.

Although you didn't mention it, the speedometer probably bounces also. Replacing the speed sensor on the side of the transmission should solve both your problems. Good luck

Fuses blown do not have manual to help locate fuses

The fuse panel should be below the steering wheel to the left. A blown fuse would explain why the electronic speedometer isn't working, but a blown fuse wouldn't explain the OD light. If the speedometer starts to work after replacing the fuse, but reads erratically, you might want to check the vehicle speed sensor.

It may be that the speedo cable has come loose at 1 end and will need to be tightened back up. Sorry but not sure where ends are attached on your car.

The cruise control on my 1993 Honda Accord LX, automatic 4 cylinder works sometimes and sometimes not. It worked three days ago. It wouldn't work the next day. The following day it would. Now it won't...

Sounds like possibly a safety switch associated with the brake or shifter is engaging intermittently. There is definitely one behind the brake because when you apply the brake the cruise kicks out. Try looking for this switch and check it out.
