SOURCE: when do i change the transmission fluid 2005 monte carlo?

Well, I'm not really sure what the manufacturer's recommended interval is... But to be honest with you, once every 100000 kms, or 5-6 years is plenty for a transmission fluid/filter change is enough (yes, there is a filter inside the pan of the transmission, assuming it's an automatic). But, if you notice problems earlier (transmission starting to slip, fluid discoloration, or any other transmission related driveability issues) the first thing to do would be to do a transmission oil/filter change as soon as you can. Beware of these places that offer a transmission flush, that's about as useful as putting winter air in your tires, and costs money for nothing.

SOURCE: 2000 monte carlo transmission

Well the tag is on the backside of the transmission closer to the firewall....I imagine one is the 4t65ehd which is the heavy duty and the other is the normal non supercharged version.. What a place for it huh lol

SOURCE: 1995 monte carlo starting and run problems

Sounds like the fuel is draining back towards the fuel tank, which is the reason for extended cranking till fuel reaches injectors. My guess would be the fuel pump in the fuel tank. It contains a REVERSE FLOW VALVE, which SHOULD prevent this. A visible way to check would to place a manual fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail valve. After shutting the engine off note the degree of pressure drop, if any. Hope this helps

SOURCE: help my monte carlo 2004 transmission ust to slip

once a trans starts to slip like this there is no bandaid fix, u need to either replace or overhaul the entire trans, the clutches inside the trans are worn out or you have a fluid pressure failure.

My 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo kind of spits and sputters while driving. What could be the problem?

There are several potential issues that could be causing your 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo to spit and sputter while driving. Here are a few possibilities:
  1. Fuel delivery issues: If your engine is not receiving the correct amount of fuel or air, it can cause hesitation or rough idling. This could be due to a clogged fuel filter, a malfunctioning fuel pump, or a problem with the air intake system.
  2. Ignition system issues: A faulty spark plug, ignition coil, or other component of the ignition system can cause misfires, which can make the engine hesitate or sputter.
  3. Emissions system issues: Your vehicle's emissions system is designed to reduce harmful pollutants in the exhaust. A malfunctioning component of this system, such as the oxygen sensor, can cause the engine to run poorly.
  4. Electrical issues: A damaged or worn electrical component, such as a sensor or relay, can cause the engine to run rough or stall.
  5. Transmission issues: If your vehicle is experiencing transmission problems, such as slipping or shifting issues, it can cause the engine to hesitate or sputter.
To determine the exact cause of the problem, it's best to have your vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic. They can perform a diagnostic scan to check for any error codes or issues with the engine, transmission, or emissions system.

I have a 1999 monte carlo with a 3.8L V-6. The check engine light did not come on; however, it is not shifting into overdrive and shifting rough when hot. Any ideas?

Hello,
You are experiencing the most common signs of the end of the life of the 4T65 Transmission that is installed on your vehicle. There are many ways to prolong the life of the transmission, however since you've already lost overdrive chances are your transmission is passed the point of being saved. Most 4T65 transmissions begin to exhibit this above 120k miles give or take depending on driving habits. Some have had success with replacing the solenoids and valve body, however chances are your transmission is need of an entire replacement or rebuild.

1996 chevrolet monte carlo i feel no trans slipage. yet getting p1870 01 code

Just because you cant feel in doesn't mean it isn't slipping. The computer monitors input rotation speed and output rotation speed of the transmission. If the output isn't within a certain range the computer stores this code. The only reason for this is transmission slipping and will require a rebuild.
