Charing AC need to know where & how to recharge with a home kit, where is the firewall & engine located I located the H I need the L for low....

4.0L , 5.0L : Back near the firewall (Evaporator) above the accumulator/drier. The line will be cold /low pressure port.
Near radiator (Condenser) is hot/high pressure port

Be careful, if unsure do not risk it. If the system is leaking this will be a very temporary fix and probably needs the service of an experienced auto AC person.

If you are still getting air from the vents but it is not cold then you either have a bad compressor or just need to recharge it.

With the engine on in idle, turn on the AC and watch the RPMs. They should drop about 50-100 when you turn it on, also listen for the sound of the compressor kicking in. If you notice either of these things then the compressor is probably fine and the AC just needs to be recharged.

Head to your local auto parts store and pick up a recharge kit. The kit will have pretty good instructions on how to recharge it. If you are having difficulties following them just let me know.

ok jeff yes there is a low side and it will be located by the ac resivoir up close to the firewall it will be a long cylinder with two hoses one of those hoses will have a fitting on it that will be the one a recharge cannister will fit on

The low side port is located near the firewall at the back of the engine compartment near the right strut tower. It has a black plastic cover similar to a tire valve. Do not connect to the high pressure side which on my vehicle is located towards the front of the right side near the radiator. You will need R-134a and a connector kit. Knowing the year of the truck would be helpful, but by now the system
should have been changed over from R12 to R134. The low side inlet
is located on the acumulator on the right side of the engine compartment at the firewall. If you're using an R134 recharge kit for a
booster shot thats fine, but if the system is empty it needs to be evacuated and charged with the proper equipment, to avoid future
problems. It can be the difference between semi cool and cold.

Get a garage to recharge the refigerant gas in your cooling system - you might have a leak also, they can pressure check it to find out.

The recharge can be done at home with a kit from any motor factor store but the pressure check is unreliable. You also need to know where the connections are.

This Could Be the LOW PRESSURE SENSOR Located on the COLD Line Close to the Firewall it has a 2 wire Plug

You can only attach the the recharge hose from the kit to the low side ( A/C service port) and the cap should be blue with a leter L on it. Good luck and follow the instruction and don't over charge the system. With the AC on the coldest setting, use a thermometer in a middle vent. Normal vent temperature readings will vary depending on the (ambient) outside temp. The vent temperature should range from around 42-55 degrees in my experience. If normal gauge readings are obtained and the vent air is cold - STOP don’t overcharge the system. The only proper way to remove refrigerant is with a AC recovery machine so if this is being done at home I can’t emphasize enough not to over charge the system. And actually the best way to insure the proper charge is in a system, is to use an AC machine to recover the R134a and then evacuate and recharge the system with the correct amount. Most cars have the specified amount on a decal under the hood.  Good luck and hope this helps.

connection should be on line coming out of firewall.righy side. fittings are different sio no chabce of wrong hook up.. the line you want shoul be the cool one with ac running. good luck

look back near the firewall right beneath the bottom of the windshield. There is a small black cover that you unscrew, and hook the ac recharge kit onto. Then just follow the directions on the can.
