SOURCE: Where is the thermostat located on a 1992 Toyota Camry v6?

The thermostat housing is on the passenger side of the engine, under the alternator area. You cannot see it with the alternator installed. Not easy to change, but, if you do, buy a Toyota thermostat. The factory 'stats have an air-purge valve, and it is very important. The aftermarket 'stats do not have this valve. Note that when you replace the 'stat the air purge valve should be at the top of the hole in the housing (pointing straight up).

SOURCE: changing a thermostat

Follow the big water hose on top of the radiator to the engine blogk. Where it goes into the block there should be 2 or 3 bolts to remove the housing. When you change the thermostat you should also change the gasket. I hope this helps.you.

SOURCE: i replced my radiator & thermostat and my car

If you have replaced the radiator and thermostat did you check that the electric cooling fans on the radiator and make sure they are coming on and staying on long enough to cool down the radiator. If the fans are working fine the water pump is probably bad.

Overheating

Check antifreeze level. Make sure radiator is full. If that isn't it, next would be the thermostat. If the thermostat is stuck, it will not regulate the engine temperature. Google engine thermostat or your truck to see where it is located. If you go to your local auto parts store (or call them), they will have the thermostat in stock and tell you where it is located. Generally most are easily accessible and not much hassle.

My temp guage goes up and down when im drivin? Its a 1992 toyota corolla wagon.

Your temp ranges from what to what? Some fluctuation is normal during operation because the thermostat is constantly moving to regulate temp, as does the electric fan. Providing changes are not large, and engine is not overheating, or low on coolant, everything is probably normal.

1992 Ford Taurus Overheating

Thermostat is faulty.
It can be found by grabbing the top radiator hose and following back to the engine. The housing this hose is clamped to is the thermostat housing. Remove the 2 bolts, and the cover o reveal the thermostat.
It should cost less than $20 for a thermostat and gasket.
Replace it and your overheating isues will go away.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated.

1992 toyota paseo

The thermostat is located on the cylinder head, under a roundish housing, under the distributor cap. Just follow the big hose to the cylinder head. You have to remove the air intake collector to see it. If you do replace the thermostat, make sure that the one that you buy has a small "wiggle valve" on the outer edge of it. This bleeds air pockets from the system, and it is important that it is there. Additionaly, the "wiggle valve" should be installed with it pointing straight up (12 o'clock). This is critical. Regarding the sealer; the thermostat is sealed by an O-ring; no need for any sealer.
Remember to be careful, whilst draining the coolant, if it is hot.
Hope this helps, and Thanks for choosing FixYa.
