Why will the car stereo not go off any more when i stop, turn off the ignition, and open the drivers door, this is a 2005 GMC Sierra Z71. I have to open another door to turn off the radio. I am also having acuator problems and dont know if I've got an electrical problem or just two problems at once

Someone has reprogrammed your radio so when you exit the vechical the radio keeps playing. You can try. Unhooking the battery for 10 mins and see if that defaults it back or look in the car manual to reprogram it. Alot of new functions with radios. You may have done it by accident if you have stearing wheel controls.. as for the switch on the door that would be an easy test..put the key in the ign. And open the door and see if it dings.. I've never seen a door switch go bad.. a loose wire harness connection sometimes but never a switch. Let us know regardless

SOURCE: 2000 Ford Focus electric locks/acuator failure recurring problem

I would follow their recommendation as I had the same problem with my car. They unhooked the power to that door and it was fine. The problem was a short in the wiring in the door that was causing the problem. So maybe get them to check the wiring in the door as well.

Why does my 2005 gmc z71 gauges jump around reduced engine power doors unlock and lock and engine stalls but starts immediately when I stop and put in park after I hit a bump

As far as your gages and door locks, Any component that gets feed from ignition switch, I'd have to check feed to and from ignition switch when the problem is ongoing. I haven't looked at your wiring diagram, yet. Also, you may be able to check voltage at applicable fuse circuit, when problem is ongoing.

2005 gmc sierra Z71..driving down the road

This transmission is shifted by a computer via electric solenoids that open and close hydraulic fluid pressure passages when signaled by the computer control, so any kind of a problem with the external wiring harness to the valve body or the valve body wiring harness or the PCM (powertrain control module can cause this symptom. The most common cause of your particular problem is a damaged open or shorted shift solenoid, this causes the transmission to go into two gears at once, the computer senses this and shifts the transmission to neutral to stop any damage to the transmission.

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra and the radio and dome light doesn't always respond when the drivers door is opened. It does work properly when any other door is opened.

you have a bad door switch on the drive's door - replace it.
more then that you may have a short in the wires coming from the car frame to the door itself, but try the switch first.

I changed batteries in my 2003 GMC Sierra key fob

1. Close all doors
2. Insert key into ignition
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver's door panel, continue to hold down
until instructed to release in step 9.

4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in a fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
6. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
8. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
9. Release the power UNLOCK button on the door panel. The vehicle should respond by
door locks locking and unlocking automatically. (If locks do not cycle after you let go,
not before you let go of the unlock button, then the vehicle has not entered programming
mode and you must start procedure over. Remove key from ignition, open drivers door
and return to step 1 ). If the locks do cycle automatically then proceed to step 10.

10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote until the doors lock and
unlock. This may take up to 30 seconds.

11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional remote. (Including any existing remotes).
12. Turn the ignition to the ON position to exit the programming mode.
13. Test remote(s).

Driver's side door handle will no longer open door from inside

1st check the door hinges. Open the door, try to lift it up and down while someone watches the hinges. If there is movement at the hinges, they are worn and need to be replaced and are probably the reason u are having difficulty w/ the door.
