SOURCE: TICKING NOISE WHEN EXCELLERATING

I had this problem once and took it to my mechanic.
I must of forgot to put oil in!
Checked the oil, changed the oil and it went away forever!

SOURCE: Some times hard to start then tick over lumpy then

Is this the 3.0 diesel ? Most likely the rail oil pressure sensor is faulty but wont show as a trouble code cos it reads pressures  from 0 - 27Mpa and can  show pressure  even when  its not there ,hard to spot but pull the white wire from the car side of the injector loom by the dipstick and see if that sorts it out-  or the rail oil pressure control valve - this should show as about 20% on tech 2 at idle  if it goes below 15% the engine stops again no code will set .

SOURCE: 3.0diesl commonrail, eliminated fuel problem from

the injector pump should deliver if i can remember my college many years ago ,so many atmospheres of pressure ,one atmosphere is 14.7 lbs but i just cannot remember sorry ,the pressure should be the same for idle and 3500 rpm ,for the life of me i cannot remember ,but from you description i would diagnose this as down to timing retarded nnow a indirect injection should be about 8/12º static timing and direct injection 16/21 depending on type of pump and weither its a turbo or not ,but this was with the old inline pumps ,now i think that your running retarded and this is all computer controlled and the only ones to sort this out is possibly the bosch injection agents ,has the crank sensor been moved ,is the computer software up to scratch ,,it could even be a low injection pressure and i think you know this as well but i just cannot remember the injection pressure and i have tested enough injectors in my time ,i think its about the 200lbs mark but it could be a bit more ,sorry it comes with age iam afraid

My 1998 jimmy runs rough the first 3 to 5 minutes it running and makes a ticking noise. After that it runs normal.

Ticking could be your lifters. If it is a bad ticking then you could have thrown a rod but that should be noticeably louder. If you are using a fuel or oil treatment I recommend Lucas additives. It is going to take a few tanks of adding this in to have a lasting effect. One time just won't do it.

How much for lifters on a 1998 izusu trooper? And will that make you engine nock?

Lifters generally make a tick, tick, tick noise. If you have a low tone knock, you may have more severe issues, or what you may have is heavy carbon build-up on the pistons, contacting the cylinder head(s). What I suggest first is to use fuel injection cleaner and add it to the fuel tank a few times. You can go to your local part store and see what other products they have, such as "Seafoam," to assist in carbon removal. Extreme conditions may actually require the removal of the cylinder head(s) to gain access to the top of the pistons to physically scrape the carbon from them.

When i spped up my truck makes a ticking sound ..what could that be?

It is more than likely the lifters ticking. After a lot of miles then the hydraulic lifters don't hold oil pressure and start ticking. Engines will run for a very long time with the lifters ticking. I have a 1972 Nova that the lifters have ticked on for about 10 years and it still runs fine.

This is going to sound a bit far-fetched, but I've had a similar problem with a '93 discovery... Turns out the problem was water in fuel tank.
