How do I get VAG-COM with FTDI chip to communicate with the ECU for my 1999 Subaru Outback 30th Anniversary Limited Edition?

I've tried to do modifications, such as adjusting the idle, but all I get is a message that says, INTERFACE NOT FOUND. I've done the green connectors test underneath the steering wheel...but nothing. I know 1999 is a transition year. So, is there anything special about this year that I do not know about? I am at my whits end because of this. I must be missing something because it's just not working out for me

SOURCE: car make screeming noising when turning steering wheel

turn the wheel all the way to the right till you hit the end of it's travel... move it back and forth toward the end... shut off the motor and check the power steering level fill if needed... now do it toward the left side. check the fluid level when you are done... is the noise still there ?

SOURCE: NOISE IN THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL ON A 1999 SUBARU

if the front brake pads, rotor and more importantly the caliper were all installed correctly, this noise is probably a front hub bearing that is failing. they will start a humming noise and then a roaring/growling noise the worse they get. is the noise rotational? by that it will get louder and higher in pitch as you increase the vehicle speed. get it checked out right away to avoid possible further damage.

2000 Subaru Outback. It will turn over but won't catch or start? I can't find a diagram for relay / fuses. Does it have a security system in place?

Yes, all cars have alarms and engine immobilizers. Yours needs resetting, but I wonder what made it become unpaired, key to ECU. Try a reset anyway.

You may need an auto electrician to diagnose the fault and fix it.

2005 Subaru Outback. Trip odometer suddenly said Err 55, cruise control started flashing, ABS lit up, and check engine light had come on. I noticed a day later that the regular odometer had frozen,

I found this under Fixya; 2006 Subaru Outback; there were 25 answers: The problem is not with an emission issue as you would expect with a check engine light. The ER 55 code on the odometer means that there is a loss of communication with the ECU, that is why the check engine light is on and cruise light flashing. for what ever reason whenever your check engine light comes on the cruise becomes disabled. Lame I know. I work in the service department and have seen this issue a lot. The only real way to fix this issue is to go the dealer and have them do a reflash for your vehicle. If the ECU is bad it is covered under the federal emmission wrty for 8 years or 80,000 miles

Recommended Oil for use...

20W-50 is not the right oil for a four-cylinder 2.5L. That is too heavy a weight and will give you a lot of trouble if used over time. If you are using 10W-30, stick with it. Insist the shop use 10W-30. If they give you any guff, take your car somewhere else.

What does error code 55 mean for Subaru leagcy 2005

This is a communication error with the BIU (body integrated unit). Need to take to the dealer, possible that the ECU needs to be replaced to fix this issue. It should be covered under the federal emmission wrty.
