1987 leaking coolant from hose on the oil pan

it is easy to tell the difference between water and oil
if it is water ,it can be hose , radiator, water pump seal or the like
if it is oil ( red oil ) is the transmission oil cooler lines , or black oil crank shaft seals or oil filter leaks
check the coolant level , take it to an accredited radiator shop and confirm if oil or water

You will have to clarify behind the oil pan. Front of engine towards fan. Rear of engine transmission side. Or above the pan towards engine side. If there is coolant leaking from behind the engine (between the engine and trans) and is not running down from above eg head gasket or hose connection, chances are good that there is a frost plug leaking on the rear of the block.

Check your hoses going to the heater core,they are going thru firewall.Fell thehoses for coolant. Hose Clamps may just need to be tightened.

CHECK HEATER PIPE OR HEATER HOSE AND CHECK COOLANT INLET PIPE FROM THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING. CHECK HEATER OUTLET HOSE FROM THE RADIATOR OUTLET PIPE.SOUND LIKE COOLANT LEAK COMING OFF TOP OF ENGINE.

Is it leaking FROM the oil pan, or dripping OFF the oil pan?

If its dripping OFF the oil pan, that leads me to beleive you have a coolant leak somewhere. Check the coolant level. Check for leaks.

Check your oil, if the oil is milky/coffee colored. Or if your coolant looks kinda nasty, you may be looking at a headgasket.

check the seal around your water pump and also the radiator hoses. more than likely you have a leaking water pump. look for signs of coolant on the serpentine belt and keep a close eye on your coolant level.

First you need to identify what's leaking? What color is fluid? Green, Red, Brown? and where under car is fluid leaking from center, front rt, etc... Another option is check ALL fluid levels - coolant, oil, power steering, transmission.

sounds like u have a cracked oil pan, requires removal from engine and either welding or new pan estimate cost around $300 and up depending on location and if other damage

Can someone get back to this issue and what was the fix? My car starting doing that and I don’t know what to check first. It would help a lot if someone could answer back
