There should be 2 power inputs in radio connector,1 for radio power other for memory. If you have both then radio would have to be sent out for repair.

Does a 2004 Pontiac Montana's radio have an amplifier? If it does, where would it be???

Unless the face of the stereo says MONSOON there is no separate amplifier. On a Non-Monsoon Delco system all four amplifiers are built into the stereo, Left front, Right front, Left rear, and Right rear. Monsoon systems do have a separate amplifier which basically boosts the output of the four regular amps in the radio. I can't imagine all four of those amplifier output chips going out at the exact same time. I would pull the stereo and check if all plugs are seated properly. If those were all securely plugged in I would (myself) inspect the inside of the unit for the cause of failure. For example all four amp chips pull power from a common point and if one chip had a severe enough short in it, this may have caused the power feed trace on a circuit board to overload (too much current going through it) and created an open which killed power to all four of them. Any good electronics repair shop worth their salt should be able to repair it if you can locate one willing to try. It may only need a circuit board trace repair and one amp chip replaced.

Radio not working

sounds to me like the radio lost its pass word code.
(or a power amp fuse is blown)
check fuses. , this time. more carefully.
some radios go to now amp mode, will tune but are in pass word mode.
if you drain the battery , this happens everytime.
oldest story in the world this.....

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/obtaining-anti-theft-radio-code-1350588/

if all power pins on the radio have 12vdc and if radio has external amp
there are like 4 or 5 radio options on new jeeps.
so if it has an external amp,it too has power pins, if they have 12vdc
then the fuse is not blown. (the fsm shows the wiring and fuses, read the FSM)
if the radio is still dead, it can be the radio code issue.
if the fuses are good , its Jeep dealer time.

Where the fuse box to a 88 ford thunder bird 5.0 liter

The fuse panel is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, next to the emergency brake pedal. You need to remove the under-dash insulation to access some parts of the fuse panel.

If it doesn't have a diagram inside the box, here's one I found online: http://www.coolcats.net/tech/reference/images/fusepanel.jpg

The display on my 2000 Mountaineer radio works some of the time. Somtimes it will slowly dim and then go blank. Most of the time it is blank. Is there a fix?

I have researched this through multiple forums and "DIY" sites, apparently the problem is excessive heat building up in the radio and loosening solder terminals on the power board for the radio display. After trying the recommended re-soldering fix a couple of times without success I believe that the best way to go is to purchase a repair kit (HWM0043 ) and swap out the power supply. Try SOT Electronics, Inc. 4090 Pike Lane Concord, CA 94520 800-442-4491 ext. 562

No display on service center display

If it is working it will tell you if any doors, hatches are open, it tells you when your next service is due, If you are in 4WD or not. On the all time 4wd it tells you if you are in "Lo" . Mostly shows date and time. Check your grounds and power source fuses. It may need replaced. Also if something is wrong it makes a really annoying sound and it desplays a message. " Servire 4WD Switch" for exaple. I hope that helps . I just bought mine and just trying to fix it up for hunting. good luck Alex

Ive got a factory radio reading of i have code how do i reset to put in code

When you turn on the radio, it will say "codE" on the display. You have the 4-digit code number for your radio, to enter the first digit, press the "1" button on the radio the number of times until the first digit matches. For example, if your code is "2156" then, press radio preset button 1 two 2 times, then press radio preset button 2 one time, then radio preset button 3 five 5 times and finally preset button 4 six times.
THEN if the display is correct (should show 2156 in this example), press TAPE button. You should hear a beep and the radio should be working. If you make a mistake and enter a wrong code, the display will show "Err". You have 3 tries to get this correct or the radio may be toast. These are the steps for the stock radio in my 1995 GSX and they've worked for me each time I've lost battery power. Good luck!
