Diane,
If, by chance, your truck is parked with one or both front tires against a curb (or similar), try the "steering wheel thing" again, and bring a friend - you will have to turn VERY hard to release the shifter.

just a thought - good luck

SOURCE: My 97 F250 wont shift out of park? Engine starts,

most likely your brake switch is out. If you had a scanner you would be able to see if the computer see's you pressing on the pedal. Or if you know how to test you could check to see if it switches ( completes the circuit ).

SOURCE: The gear shift is stuck in park. The wheel moves

Make sure you have brake lamps. The shift interlock solenoid is powered by the brake lamp switch.

My chevy cruze 2013 power steering is locked. They key turns and can start the car, but the steering wheel remains locked

Can you take the vehicle out of park and put it into gear? If so, move the car a bit forward or backward and see if the steering unlocks. If so, it was probably parked in a manner that had the steering wheel stressed against a turn.

93 Georgie boy Cruisemaster motorhom 93 Georgie boy Cruisemaster motorhome stuck in park i 93 Georgie boy Cruisemaster motorhome stuck in park any ideas on how to fix

As with most cars and trucks, if the shifter won't move out of park, one possible cause is a faulty brake switch or shift lock solenoid.
If the RV is on flat ground and the park pawl is not under heavy load, you may be able to shift out of park by unlocking the steering wheel but not turning the key to the on position. Make sure the parking brake is set before you try it.

Key will not turn over the car everything including the steering wheel is locked up

Try wiggling the steering wheel when you turn the key. Sometimes there's a steering lock. Also, make sure the car is in Park. Could be the lock cylinder, or the wheel lock jamming.

Locked Ignition but steering wheel free

Push gear selector up past park and it should loosen up, or press hard on the brake pedal. Shifter up past park usually loosens it up. Common GM problem.

The key will turn far enough to start the accessories but will not move far enough to turn the engine on.

try turning steering wheel a bit, or move shifter up past park. Otherwise ignition may have a broken or stuck pin and will need to be replaced.

Can't turn the key, can't move out of park.

Yes the steering wheel lock is jamming your key lock.

try to remember whihc way the wheel was turned when parking. pull down real hard in same direction and turn key.

sometimes you have the pull on wheel very hard in either direction while turning key,****DO NOT FORCE KEY only the wheel/

Trailblazer shifter stack in park

pull your steering wheel to one side and see if it will move the shifter. Sometimes the steering lock will get stuck and won't let you move it into gear. If that does not work then Chalk the wheels and go underneath and disconnect the cable/linkage from the tranny. See if you can move the tranny arm by hand. If it moves then it is in the cloulm/cable or linkage. Try to move the shifter when it is disconnected. If it still won't move then you will have to find out where it is getting stuck. Let me know what happens. Hope this works.
