Gauges going wild suggests bad news - I hope I am wrong but it is the sort of thing that happens when a battery or jump starter is momentarily connected the wrong way around - fully computerised car with lots of electronics that are easily damaged.
Alternatively perhaps a wire hasn't been connected that should have been.
It might have been helpful if you had provided more details, such as when the trouble began - did you replace the above because it wouldn't start or perhaps it wouldn't start after the replacements?
the amperage of the alternator is immaterial as long as it is big enough to run the electrics of the vehicle
what is indicated here is that the new alternator required an external voltage regulator or a properly operating regulator to regulate the output voltage
battery voltage in a new battery fully charged is 13.2 volts dc and when the voltage regulator is working the controlled voltage is 14.5-14.8 volts dc
check how you wired up the alternator and have an accredited to test the charging circuit
SOUND LIKE DEAD BATTERY.HAVE BATTERY CHECKED AND REPLACED.MAKE SURE ALTERNATOR CHARGING BATTERY.WITH ENGINE IDLING BATTERY VOLTAGE OUTPUT AT BATTERY SHOULD BE 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS. IF NOT CHECK ALTERNATOR BATTERY FEED WIRE AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES FOR DAMAGE OR LOOSE CONNECTIONS,CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND MAKE SURE ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT NOT LOOSE SLIPPING OR BROKEN.
The usual problem for all the lights going on is the ignition switch. Not the cylinder the switch. What happens is the switch furnishes power to everything and when the switch goes bad you loose power and all the lights will come on.You can always get the alternator checked you don`t have to replace it.If your in doubt. Most part stores will do this for free.Hope this helps.Good luck.
all the fuses test good and the alternator and battery test good. no guages at all but back lighting works, will run and start until battery dies. fusable link from alternator tests good.
It maybe as simple as corroded battery terminals. Somtimes they corrode between the post and the terminal itself. When you run light loads there is enough current passing through. When you crank the engine however, the large current flow will not pass. When you jump the car the clamps are biting on the outside of the terminal and current flows easy. Simply clean or replace the terminals and clean the posts as well to a silver shine and the trouble may go away
