Alarm stopped working

Alarm was working when I got into the truck. When I arrived at work it had stopped working. Even the door keypad was not working. I was raining this morning ..not hard. what could be the issue.. Is there a fuse that is in the alarm wiring path?

SOURCE: alarm remote

There should be a alarm by-pass (red button under the dash) located on the drivers side above the brake or clutch (if equipted) peddle. Opening the door (as you probably already found out) will set the alarm off, so it's a good idea to let you neibours know what you are doing so the police are not called on you. Once pressing that button, the alarm and the ignition lockouts will be off and will need to be reset before you can arm it again.

SOURCE: 2005 F150 Keyless Entry

There is a technical service bulletin out on this probelm on 2004/2005 F150.
ISSUE: Some 2004-2005 F-150 vehicles built through 2/7/2005, may exhibit an inoperative keyless entry keypad. This may be due to the vehicle security module (VSM) not being configured to accept keyless entry keypad input.

The fix is to reprogam the vehicle security module with as-built data. So it would have to go to the dealer to do this.
The tsb number is 05-5-5.

SOURCE: ignition alarm will not stop 97 ford f150

The key switch usually breaks or wears out and makes contact. It is on the lock cylinder. This would cause the chime to not come on, or stay on. Sounds like the switch is bad.

1997 F-150/250 Warning Chime, Key-In-Ignition The key-in-ignition chime warns that the key is still in the ignition when the driver's door is ajar. The key-in-ignition warning chime will sound when:

  • GEM: Driver door is ajar, the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK or ACC position and the keys are in the ignition.
  • CTM: Driver door is ajar, the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK, ACC or RUN position and the keys are in the ignition.
The key-in-ignition warning chime will stop sounding when:
  • Driver door is closed.
  • Key is removed from the ignition.
  • GEM: Ignition switch is switched to the RUN position.
The key-in-ignition warning chime inputs are:
  • Ignition switch RUN position (battery potential on both RUN and RUN/ACC inputs).
  • Ignition switch ACC position (battery potential on RUN/ACC input only).
  • Key-in-ignition switch (grounded with key-in-ignition, open circuit with key-out).
  • LH door ajar switch (open circuit with door closed, grounded with door ajar).
This is a pic for a 98, could not find one for 97 which may be the older style which is more prone to break.

SOURCE: 2002 ford explorer-alarm goes off

At one point the door was lock from the in side and then closed and then unlocked with alarm, try un-locking it from the drivers door, then from the in side push the un-lock button and then close the drivers door. U should have no problems with it, but they do say that putting the key in the ignition and then do what you would like starting it but don't and do it 2 times and then start it will tell the alarm that it is not stolen.

Do u know that key less entry code to your drivers door?
Let me know if you would like your code that is if you don't know where to look.

My 2000 hyundai tiburon alarmed itself and the alarm is sounding. I have no remote control that works.

Put key in ignition, turn all the way forward, but not trying to start. Let alarm cycle 2 times, when it stops the 2nd time, remove key and alarm should be disarmed. This will only work if it is a factory alarm.

The alarm is going off and the keypad wont work

If you are having this problem the first thing to do is disconnect the battery, then connected back and see if the alarm is working again. If is not working replace battery on your alarm keypad, otherwise you will need to replace the whole alarm system. Good luck.

1996 Jeep grand cherokee limited

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF, GET OUT OF THE CAR, LOCK YOUR DOOR WITH THE KEY AND THEN UNLOCK IT. THAT IS ONE WAY , IF THAT DOESNT WORK PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AT THE SAME TIME TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND PRESS AND HOLD KILL SWITCH UNDER STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND FUSE BOX

i have a 1996 grand caravan, and i have the problem of alarm going off too. I also do not have a keychain to turn it off. All you have to do is unlock the driver door or passenger door with a regular key, and that stops the alarm.
