Alarm was working when I got into the truck. When I arrived at work it had stopped working. Even the door keypad was not working. I was raining this morning ..not hard. what could be the issue.. Is there a fuse that is in the alarm wiring path?

check for a fuse under your dash(not in your fuse box) it wil be by itself. pull the fuse alarm will be off...

There should be a alarm by-pass (red button under the dash) located on the drivers side above the brake or clutch (if equipted) peddle. Opening the door (as you probably already found out) will set the alarm off, so it's a good idea to let you neibours know what you are doing so the police are not called on you. Once pressing that button, the alarm and the ignition lockouts will be off and will need to be reset before you can arm it again.

There is a technical service bulletin out on this probelm on 2004/2005 F150.
ISSUE:
Some 2004-2005 F-150 vehicles built through 2/7/2005, may exhibit an inoperative keyless entry keypad. This may be due to the vehicle security module (VSM) not being configured to accept keyless entry keypad input.
The fix is to reprogam the vehicle security module with as-built data. So it would have to go to the dealer to do this.
The tsb number is 05-5-5.

The key switch usually breaks or wears out and makes contact. It is on
the lock cylinder. This would cause the chime to not come on, or stay
on. Sounds like the switch is bad.

This is a pic for a 98, could not find one for 97 which may be the older style which is more prone to break.

At one point the door was lock from the in side and then closed and then unlocked with alarm, try un-locking it from the drivers door, then from the in side push the un-lock button and then close the drivers door. U should have no problems with it, but they do say that putting the key in the ignition and then do what you would like starting it but don't and do it 2 times and then start it will tell the alarm that it is not stolen.
Do u know that key less entry code to your drivers door?
Let me know if you would like your code that is if you don't know where to look.
