The hood to my 04 CRV is stuck, the cable popped it and we can move the secondary latch but can not get it fully open.

A pry bar wrapped in towel to give extra leverage may have to be used to pop that hood latch.

Open hood

the handle should be on the driver side of the vehicle in the driver footwell there should be a handle with a symbol on it near where your left foot would be if sitting in the seat. then when you do this your hood will pop the first lock. after that you will have to go to the hood while pushing up on the hood the "B" in the center of the wings should be sticking up higher that usual. pull on the "B" while pushing the hood up and after this point the hood should stay up after fully up by the struts under the hood.
hope this helps...

Carnt open bonnet on my audi a4 2002 model, the realease pull works but doesent seem to release fully only a couple inch! any idea's anyone regards mike

There is another lever at the front of the car that you need to release too. This is to prevent the hood flying open if you accidentally pull the release while driving. After you release the latch inside the car, go to the front of the car, near the Audi rings, in the center of the grill there is a small black tab that pops out when the internal hood release is pulled. Pull up on it and the hood will open. Let us know if that works.

2008 Mitsubishi release cable for Hood not working. When pulling on release inside car, the hood does not pop open to reach under and release the safety latch

I have a similar problem on my 2006 VW Passat.

I'm able to open the hood two ways:
1) ask someone to hold onto the lever inside the car while you try to lift the hood to the point where you can use the unlatch button and open the hood fully.

2) Pull the lever completely open in the car and try to find a thick screwdriver or some thick paper folded up to wedge next to the lever to hold it open while you get out and try to lift the hood to the point where you can use the unlatch button and open the hood completely.

Other than this finding a service manual or tutorial online about how to pull out whatever trim or interior covers you would need to replace the cable fully. There should be a specific replacement guide for this item since I'm sure it happens to car's at least semi-regularly

How do I open the hood of a Mitsubishi L300 ?

  1. Locate the interior hood-release lever under the dashboard on the driver's side of the interior of the car.

  2. 2

Lift up and toward you on the hood release lever. The lever is connected to a cable that releases the hood. The hood will pop up about 1/2 inch when you pull the lever.

  3. 3

Move to the front of the car and locate the exterior hood-release lever under the front of the hood. It is located near the middle of the vehicle, just beyond where the front edge of the hood meets the body. Lift up on the inner lever.

  4. 4

Lift up on the edge of the hood while holding the inner lever in place. When the hood is up, find the hood prop and raise it, setting its tip in the hood-prop mount on the hood, to hold the hood up while you work in the engine bay.

Hood is jammed closed, inside latch will not release hood.in side latch is fully up, no pop on hood. hood is locked tight

I am not familiar with this particular car, however MANY times I have opened a hood by having one person hold the lever up (or out), while another presses down or hits with a closed fist, the hood near where it latches. After you get it open, thoroughly clean and lubricate the latch mechanism. I hope this helps you get in.
