My '96 Ford Escort (automatic transmission) cranks and idles fine it will shift and move well in reverse but when i shift down to drive it will buck and stall. Could this be a motor mount issue?

check fluid levels and add if low.. look for contaminates in fluid.. sholud be reddish color instead of brownish.. may need trans fluid/filter change..

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

Vibration

Is the engine light on? If not, It'probly time for an idle air control valve. Also check the motor mounts. Put the car in drive, hold the brake and give it some gas. Do the same thing in reverse. If the motor moves more than a few inches, you may have a broke motor mount.(you watch the motor, let a friend work the gas)
