Should be 4.3 liters completely empty. I would add 3 liters and check the oil level, then add another liter if required by the dipstick. Once at about 4 liters, run the engine and recheck the oil level. Add more if needed.
Hi,
Sounds like the oil light and sender are doing their job. They are telling you, you are losing oil pressure. That will happen if you are low on oil or have pressure problems. Add oil and see if the light goes out and pressure returns. You may have leaks or a worn out engine.
add some oil if its not too late. Then go to autozone and borrow their code reader to find out what was damaged as a result of the low oil. you should be using a 5W-30 motor oil.
DO NOT DRIVE until repaired/checked....Check your oil level, if ok have the vehicle checked possible oil pump failure or clogged oil ports. If your oil is low/empty have your vehicle checked for oil leaks!! Hopefully this helps!!
It sounds like you are looking at what is on the engine oil fill cap. If that's so, running it empty will absolutely cause major damage to your engine. Locate the dip stick and check the oil level in the engine and add SAE 5w-20 Oil as needed.CAUTION--- Be careful not to overfill.
Get some cans of brake clean and spray it all off.wipe with rags respray and so on till clean.run it or just get under it after you add oil and look for thr leak. It could be up as high as the valve cover.
Because your car is consuming so much oil, you need to check the level often, so the level won't go down more than one quart. You will get an idea how long you can drive the car before it is down one quart, and should keep the level at the full mark. You should change the oil filter, as it is still collecting contaminants. Have you checked the spark plugs condition? It seems the oil consumption will result in the plugs being fouled soon . Keep that oil level up, or the result will be a seized engine. Also, I'm guessing the tail pipe shows black residue, another sign of high oil consumption. This is probably why someone sold this car, they didn't want to deal with an expensive repair of an engine rebuild. You are correct, an oil change should be done every 3k miles.
