SOURCE: electronic immobilizer

most likely cause is the gauge cluster, this will have to be tested and service by your local dealership because the dash cluster and keys have to be coded. I have seen the immobilizer loose it's coding for apearantly no reason. therefore have them recode cluster and see if problem goes away, if it doesn't the gauge cluster will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: 2006 vw jetta tdi service engine light reset

With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument pane(if pressing doesnt work try turning the knob clockwise until service light has gone off and skip the pressing)l. Release both buttons at the same time.

SOURCE: 2004 VW Jetta engine compartment fuze box location

one is located over the battery, the other is located in the side of the dash.

First panel:
If you pop your hood the battery will be on your right sid in the front of the engine bay. There is a small rectangular piece on top of the battery with a lot of heavy guage red wires going to it. That is the engine bay fuse box.

Second panel:
if you open your driver side car door it's under neath a panel located inbetween the door and the dash board.

My Volkswagen Jetta won't start after disconnecting and re connecting the battery

The first link says you can disconnect the battery cables and touch the Pos and Neg leads together to discharge any stored charge in the system. I don't think that is good, it works on some cars and other cars it can short out electrical components. I think it is better to disconnect the battery and turn the key on and let it sit for more than 1 hour to reset the immobilizer. Just my thought.

05568 mil request signal active check tcm for error. P1624 not a plausible signal

First off, let's simply define the OBD-II Trouble Codes:
Yes, 18032/P1624/005668 are the three codes that indicate "MIL Request Signal Active."
So, what does THAT mean (in plain English)??? This means that Fault Codes are stored in the TCM. SO WHAT'S THE SOLUTION?

Need to override factory keyless entry wont start

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

  • Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

Engine starts, runs (3 sec.), dies

Sounds like your immobilizer is activating. Try another key or you need to take it to a vw dealer for diag and adaptation.
