Change ignition switch in 1999 bravada - 1991 Chevrolet C1500

How about the ignition swich? They have been recalled on this model I think, call the dealer with your vehicles VIN and find out.

You will need to replace the ignition switch.

Believe it or not, it is a smart key. passlock is standard on your vehicle. This link explains why it won't start.

FIRST OF ALL TURN OFF RADIO TO KEEP FROM LOCKING IT OUT.THEN DISABLE AIRBAG.DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.WAIT 20 MINUTES.MAKE SURE TURN THE STEERING WHEEL SO THAT BOTH WHEELS POINTING STRAIGHT AHEAD.TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO LOCK THEN REMOVE KEY.TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH.REMOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.REMOVE THE 2 SCREWS SECURING THE IGNITION SWITCH.PUSH SWITCH 1 INCH STRAIGHT BACK TO CLEAR THE MOUNTING BRACKET THEN LIFT OUT.TO REMOVE LOCK CYLINDER PUT KEY IN SWITCH TURN TO RUN POSITION THEN DEPRESS THE PIN WITHDRAW THE LOCK CYLINDER.

Look @ ignition switch Electrical part suspect contacts in switch are bad. Have replaced several of them for this reason.

Put the battery on charge or jump it. Basically it's locked in because of the lack of juice.

Hey , check your ignition cord from the distributor cap to an ignition box. My blew off and caused the same problem. The connection could be corrorated if not blew off. I had to buy all the spark plug wires to get that exact wire ( only cost 20 dollars for set) but replaced and it fired right up. I also bought spark plugs and tuned it up as well. Thats also easy just remove your front tires and the plugs are right there man. Best 35 dollars I've spent in while.

i had the same problem, when i took it to the mechanic he told me is the ignition switch..you have to replace the ignition switch
