My 2008 Tdci Xle Ranger cut out on me without any Light appearing. Tried to restart but it would not. I towed it to a Ford dealer. They called me a hour later to inform me that they sprayed break free into the airbox and it started, they left it for an hour and it started on its own. After having it stand at the dealer over the weekend they started it without any problem this morning. What can be the problem. They told me it could be the rail or the pump, which i can nor believe ?

i was once pulling a trailer with a ranger when it suddenly lost power and the engine died. turns out the problem was with the fuel shut off inertia switch. the switch is supposed to activate in case of accident. on my model the inertia switch is located in the passenger side under the glove box. dont know where yours is located. once you find it, just push the button and see if it resets. good luck.

2008 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab (without moon roof or rails): How to replace the map light bulbs.  First, you'll need a "trim pad remover."  It is a tool with a screwdriver handle and the metal part has a 'smooth' forked tongue (see Snap-on Stock#: A177A for picture).  Go to the center counsel and "gingerly" work around he counsel and pull down at the same time.  The counsil is held in by six snap in tongs.  It should remove pretty easily.  once down, you'll see where the bulbs are.  Unscrew and replace.  Now, just line up the tongs and gently bump or hit the pressure points (where the tongs are) and it should snap into place.  It should take no more than five minutes, tops.

yes there is a know problem with the fuel system. fuel pump breaks down, empty your fuel filter into a bowl and check for metalic, if you have this in the filter your pump is F..... along with all the other common rail stuff. expensive job... error codes though, i find that hard to believe, fuel pressure faults will occur, i think you garage does not know what to do. or does not want to tell you the cost of the job and he will be in doubt himself of wether he is right..... was you engine coil light flashing at any point.!!!

the part is called the pinion flange seal, pull the drive shaft, remove the large nut on the flange the drive shaft connects to and remove the flange, then pry out the old seal and lube the lip of the new seal with motor oil and press it into the opening. The 7.5 hour estimate is way wrong, about 1.5 hours labor and $4 for the part.
