2004rx8 my engine light is on but running ok

there is a fault code stored in the engine computer module
car can run ok and have that light on

might have poor fuel consumption or some other issue
till fault code is cleared

if service is close have the service center use the diagnostic scanner to find the faulty sensor

if not pop in to a service center when possible and have the fault codes read and diagnosed

Service light and engine management light on constant on my sons renault megane vf1BM0H28

When the service engine soon/check engine light comes on you in most cases will not feel the engine run any different except in the case of a misfire or a large vacuum leak. What must be done now is to have the engine control module scanned to see what fault code is stored, when ever the light comes on a code is set in memory.

Van starts hard, then runs fine, fan is loud, service engine liht on

This is all tied to the service engine soon light.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

1997 Ford Van, V-6, 4.2 engine with 74,000 miles. For the past week, every other day, the motor will choke out and run rough and only go about 40 mph for about 10 minutes, then the van will be ok and run...

the first thing you need to do is take your van to a autoparts store, and have them read the codes in the computer. this is a free service. a flashing service engine light is a indication of a emergency situation so get there soon. once the codes have been read get back to me and i can probably help you more

Our service engine light just came on.

The light means several different things Did she just purchase gas? Sometimes if the gas cap was not tighten properly it will cause the service engine light to come on. Usually you can drive the car until you have it checked out especially if the car seems to be running ok.

Engine service light came on, checked oil and coolant all ok vehicle runs great

service engine soon light, has nothing to do with basics,
It needs to be put on a computer to see what code set the on,
your service engine light is for a faulty sensor which would deal with emissions or fuel economy

Service engine light

service engine light can come on for any number of reasons anything from a sensor failing, to running to rich or lean, or even a misfire

if its on there is something wrong

the best thing to do it to have a code reader put on it to find out what the code is for.

Service engine light stays on

disconnect battery and reconnect. If you have a problem that the computer is sensing, the light will reappear. At that point you must fix the problem. If your car seems to be running ok it could be something minor. Check all sensor connections under the hood
