Re: How to replace auto transmission solenoids in audi...
In general you drain the transmission fluid from the pan, drop the transmission pan and filter, then the solenoids are readily visible and accessible. Disconnect the wiring harness on the solenoid and the fastener/lock on the solenoid and remove it. Worst case you may have to disconnect the solenoid wiring harness and drop the valve body. I've found audiworld a great source of information. Get a Bentley manual for your car.

The German manufacturers came up with a great new idea that many others have now copied and that is to eliminate the under bonnet filler tube and dip stick. Some of the German manufacturers have decided to eliminate engine oil dip sticks as well. These people are just so innovative.
Thus you have to use the correct filling procedure as laid down by the manufacturer which involves filling the auto transmission from under the vehicle by removing the filler plug on the side of the auto unit and pumping in the fluid. It used to be so much easier.
Obviously this is best done on a lift/hoist and the vehicle must be level.

code p 2714 refers to transmission fluid pressure (TFP) solenoid D-performance problem or solenoid stuck off===causes --wiring---TFP solenoid--transmission mechanical fault
with the shifting of the gears manually , that rules out a mechanical problem
question now --did you replace the correct solenoid
did you check for faulty wires at harness connections or at the box
I would talk with an accredited auto transmission shop to identify solenoid D on your transmission and to see if there are any problems that occur on a regular basis in that area of the transmission ( wire insulation breaking down in the auto oil , problem solenoids etc
The problem is in the transmission . Run the fault codes to check for faulty TCM or servo's and solenoids. Have a pressure test done on the transmission to check for internal leaks. Remove the pan and check filter condition and while the pan is off have the bands and clutch pack adjustment checked
you would need to inspect all wiring leading to the transmission solenoid for short or break in the wiring and/or replace the solenoid inside the transmission - they either work or don't -- One last thing -s ince the information was ommitted, do you know the manufacturers recommend method to check the transmission fluid? Have you checked tthe trans fluid???? Best regards, Ck
You can have the transmission repaired or if you are confident enough get the manual on the transmission from Advance Auto or Auto Zone and purchase the pressure control solenoid and replace it your self.
This sounds to be the orings in the solenoid package. Nobody just replaces the orings. Put some tranX in the transmission, this is a oring reconditioner, it costs about $10.00 to15. .
My transmission was dropping out of gear and I used this and with three days it quit slipping. thats been almost two years ago.

Change the transmission fluid ant if that doesn't work then the transmission needs rebuilt or replaced. If you get on craigslist someone might be selling a transmission for cheap or check the salvage yards.
