I have a 2002 Volvo V70 2.4T, I have already replaced the brake light bulbs, but it continues to give the dash warning of "Check Stop Lamp." I have had someone stand behind the car to check which bulb is out. But what is happening is that the brake lights turn on but then they both go out and the dash indicator comes on. I checked online and found a service recall posted for the stop light relay but the dealer said there has never been such a recall. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Either the recall or the lights.

Hello. Check relay RMI5 in REM unit located in left side rear of cargo area. As you look at it it's to the right of the central electrical connector 5th from bottom. Matt

WHAT HAPPENED IS WHEN YOU SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED YOU (RESET THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER) AND THE SERVICE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING

This would be a bulb problem. You can open up your trunk, pull back the liner, and find the screws that hold the lens on, remove the screws, pry off lens and then push in and turn counter clockwise to remove the bulb. Then the new bulb pushes in and turns clockwise to lock in place.
