mercedes did nothing wrong your transmission is probably blown up. no way they could put in the wrong parts they wouldn't fit. how many miles are on your trans now? did you ever do a transmission service on the transmission that mercedes says is lifetime fluid? dont do back to the dealer find an independant shop that specializes in mercedes, like the one i work for. the dealer doesnt care about its clients. Us independants honestly do care

SOURCE: 1996 MERCEDES BENZ E320 VIBRATES AT OVER 60MPH

Vibration nearly ALWAYS comes from tire balance.
Have your tires rotated and balanced and see if that doesn't get ya smoothed out. :-)

hi this sounds like it might be the MAF sensor may be on its way out, just looking through my technical data the only thing that would make it run this bad would be the MAF, what you will have to do is disconnect the sensor and then see if it idles better, if so then you will need to get this changed out for new one...hope this helps

The heavy vibration during braking sounds like it is warped disc rotors. This car has disc brakes on all wheels, so it could be one or all of them causing the problem. One way to identify whether it is the front or the rear is to observe the steering wheel while braking and feeling the vibrations. If the steering wheel is shimmying at the same frequency as the vibration, it is almost certain that it is the front. If not it is the rear. Do a visual inspection of your pads and rotors. You will probably see scoring in the rotors. It is a fairly easy do-it-yourself job with improved braking and that smooth Mercedes ride we all love.

IF your ****** was removed and re-installed there is a good possibility that there is a problem withe torque convertor. either it is not installed or seated properly or the weight block welded to it may have come off. Also your flex plate ( the part that your torque convertor mounts to) may be warped or bent during re-installation Hope these ideas help you out..

Vibration in reverse

Unfortunately, your probably looking at serious automatic trans problems. What I would do is change the transmission oil and filter. When the pan is off, you can check for clues like oil condition (if it smells burnt or is black or brown; indicates burnt/worn cluch friction disks/steels), metal filings/fragments in the pan or the filter (indicates mechanical damage), etc. I can help through all these steps. Basicly checking these things are your best indicator of transmission condition short of putting a pressure guage on it and doing road/pressure tests. While under it check shifter linkage by having someone shift through the gears with the engine off while you inspect the linkage. Be sure to block the tires good, set the e brake, because when they take it out of park it could potentially roll and KILL or injure you. Hope this helps.
