Sounds like it needs a new starter solenoid on the starter. I would just replace the starter with a remanufactured from the parts store

Sounds like you need a new distributor.... if you had a new water pump put in lately and didnt change the distributor that would be your main problem. The water pump in located in front of distributor, if that leaks it will short out and fry the distributor. Always change distributor when water pump goes.

SOURCE: 1994 corvette wont start

Dunno if it is your problem but have had this same 'died without warning' effect from nothing more than a corroded battery clamp or terminal at the starter with the same problem.

A cheap multimeter will tell you if there is any life at all and by measuring at the terminals when having someone turn the key, then doing the same at the clamps themselves will tell you quickly if it is simply failed contact at the battery.
If the battery measures ~ 12.6 volts with no load (nothing turned on) and still the same with the key turned to start, then the terminals are at fault.

Something I have never seen before happened to one of our sons just yesterday; his Optima (costly) battery lost contact INSIDE of the battery!
It measured zilch until we dropped it on the ground (on purpose) then it measured normally 12.6 VDC.
We reinstalled it and again, as soon as he attempted to start the Jeep, even the underhood light went out and didn't come back on and the battery again measured 0 volts.

My 1994 ford escort 1.9 wont start or crank

Click on the link.
Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Two voltage circuits at the starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other goes hot with key in the start position and is wired through clutch switch, I haven't looked up info on your clutch switch. The starter motor is grounded through engine block. Any testing at starter motor, make sure tranny is out of gear and parking brake is set.
You can check the starter itself, take it off, lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from battery to starter motor, at the least, it should kick out the drive gear and spin.

I have a 1994 grand am that wont start..it just clicks but starter is good and battery

If you are saying the starter clicks but the engine will not crank, and you know for a fact the starter and battery are ok, the engine may be locked up.
Can you turn the crank with a wrench on the alternator pulley ?

94 corvette sticky starter

you havent said if the started sticks and wont enguage or it enguages and sticks enguaged once started. In either case it sounds like your starter is going to need to be replaced but check two things... make sure your battery voltage is good and check the teeth on the flywheel to nake sure they are in good condition. You nay also have to shim the starter in sme cases to achive the correct clearance. Good luck!

Battery is strong. no prior problems. no click, no

Corroded battery terminals, perhaps. Clean them and reattach. Could also be a bad starter or a bad starter relay.
