you need to check the relay for both power on the control side and the switched side you should get a 2 second pulse from the ecm when the key is turned on to activate the relay (this is the control side of the relay) and once a rpm signal is received the relay is activated if no power on the control side check ecm fuses if no power on the switched side check fuel pump fuse if power is at fuses suspect open circuit in junction box also supply a gnd to relay to see if it will activate this will tell you witch side of the relay you are working on also look on top or side of the relay usually there is a diagram telling you what is what

This trouble code could be 3 different possibilities...

Code 18 can be any of the following:

DTC 18 ABS Enable Relay Coil Circuit Shorted To Battery
DTC 18 Injector Circuit Malfuntion
DTC 18 Discriminating Sensor Interconnect Open (Supplemental Inflatable Restraints)

First, check for blown fuses. Find the fuel pump relay and swap it with another relay to see if that helps. If it does, replace the bad relay. Most late model cars have a fuel shutoff, or inertia switch that shuts down the fuel pump in an accident. They can be triggered for no reason at all. Check your owners manual to see if it has reset instructions for the fuel shut off. In the meantime I will do some research and see what I Can find and get back to you.

The park/neutral position switch prevents the car from being started when the transmission is in any gear other than Park or Neutral.. When the transmission is in Reverse (with the engine running), the switch completes the back-up light circuit, illuminating the back-up lights.

I do not have a diagram of its location, but the manual says it is in the lower right-hand side of the instrument panel.
Also note that the "Park/Neutral" switch (in the transmission) is in line with that relay. I would recommend checking that out too. You can do this by shifting to Neutral and trying to start, or using a multimeter to check that the switch is working when in Park and Neutral.

check the compression is that checks out check your spark plugs and alternator and ensure that the spark plug wires are in the correct fring order in the block and on the distributor

use a pipe wrench ot hold the rod, that will work.

the electrical part of the ignition switch needs to be relearned
