Sounds like a timing problem, did you replace the cambelt? or check the idlers for wear? a worn idler could make it jump.

I was driving my 1991 subaru legacy and it just died. It still turns over and is not out of gas but it won't start back up. I assume it is a fuel or spark problem but I am not very familiar with fuel...

either an ignition module or a sensor on a vehicle this old ,think the sensor might be inside the distributor on this one,and the module under the coil

Weak throttle response 92 subaru legacy

I would have have the TPS (Throttle Position Switch) tested, it sends a signal to the ECM of where the position of the throttle is so the ECM can determine how much fuel and air and spark to give to the engine. Have you replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, spark plug wires? Have the coil tested also to see if it is putting out enough spark. Do you have any Check Engine Light coming on?

I have a 19992 Subaru Brumby which loses ignition spark

its quite possibly the crank angle sensor as they do this when they heat up,the car wont start, till it cools down, you can get the resistance checked on it to see if its ok,but you will need someone with experience to do it but its not a hard job
