Question about 2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab

I have a 2002 F 250 with the 7.3 in it. It is all stock nothing has been done to it. In the mornings only the truck will just fall flat on its face . no throttle response. It runs rough at an idle. It does not die . After about 10 seconds I can give it throttle and it seems to clear itself out

I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!

Check for engine vacuum leaks, most likely around the upper intake manifold arear, look for vacuum hoses that have come off or a missing vacuum port block off cap at the rear of the engine drivers side, large cap.

Sounds like one of your chambers isn't firing. Run your car for a few minutes, shut it off then pull your plugs one at a time and see if one of them is wet. Might just need a new plug.

the throttle body is icing. there are engine coolent lines running to the intake plentum. flush youre cooling system and see if that fixes it

Might want to change o2 sensor's, If they are not sending the right single its tell the computer to dump fuel. 1988 was using a fuel density system.
(1989 came out with Mass air flow system)
Check this
I think it might have a TFI module that's not working right. Located under distributor. Its gray and about 4" long and if equip, you need a 4 or 5.5 mm tool to unbolt it. This was a common thing back in the 80's. Its been so long I can't remember if the 4.9 straight 6 had it or not.

What would make a belt fall off a 2007 ford fussion or split the belt into?


The split is puzzling. But for falling off, the tensioner must be weak. The pulleys can wobble if the bearings in their center is bad, you will be able to feel roughness.

The tensioner arm is spring loaded. Sometimes there is a wear bar for judging if a belt is stretched. No matter how strong a tensioner spring is, if the belt has stretched too far, there is nothing you can do but replace the belt.

Check the pulley grooves and count them. Some Alternator pulleys have 8 grooves and some have 6 grooves. While the flat faced pulleys are often wider than necessary, the grooved pulleys can quickly cut a wider belt into 2 belts. The Alternator grooves must match the number of grooves on the crankshaft.

I'd check the electric going to the fuel pump as well as any other devices. An intermittent short, bad ground wire can stop the fuel pump.
I'd be more specific with the description. "Falls on it's face", is not a good description.

Im sure you have but to be sure, Have you checked plugs? Assuming thats done, I'd guess you either have a bad crank position sensor or MAF. I say clean your MAF ( you can buy MAF cleaner at parts store) first to see if it helps. It is a very simple job and it wouldn't hurt to get it clean anyway. If that doesn't help I'd say time to change CPS. Good luck.

is your car still running on carburetor engine? if yes, have your carburetor cleaned. while cleaning, replace the secondary jet in your carb. the normal primary/secondary jet for a 1.6cc engine is 105/135.

Removing the radio.


You should be able to see two (2) small grooves on the face of your VW radio, one on each side of the radio. You will need to insert a small flat tool into both slots simultaneously to release the radio from it's cradle. A small flat head screwdriver might actually work.

Depending upon the radio being installed, it might actually fit into the existing cradle, or you may have to partially disassemble the dash in order to switch cradles.

First place I'd start is have fuel pressure tested to make sure it's within spec, or at least change fuel filter if not done recently, and see if that helps first. Was tune-up & air filter change done at regular intervals?
