1993 cadillac deville trunk latch will go down but will not come up.

I installed a new pull down motor but now the latch will go down, but will not come back up. Does the switch on the trunk lid have something to do with this?

Check your deck lid release lever or trunk release button power supply inside your glove box . the trunk should open up with no problem. you may test it by hot wiring it if you have to,

Try number 13. center of fuse block labeled deck lid. To fix the problem you will need a pull down switch. The always go bad from people slamming the trunk shut. See you gm dealer for this part.

The trunk pull down switch is bad. Here is a clu for you to save some mony. Ford uses the exact same part on that year. The cost is half than a Caddy dealer wants. The old switch is small with a black plastic flap that is the lever that toggles the item to activate. Remove it and take it with you upon purchasing

What you need is the gear's to the trunk motor, these gears are sold by them self. not hard to install in truck motor.

SOURCE: 2001 cadillac deville, the trunk lid will not pull

Either the electric motor has an open (is bad), or the switch at the latch is not sensing that the latch is articulating with the motor's latch loop.

Try to replace the motor with one from a salvage yard. Check continuity of the motor, there should be continuity if you probe the two leads that lead to the motor when the harness is disconnected.

Good luck on this repair.

Why doesn't pull down switch grab the trunk lid?

There's a motor that pulls the trunk lid down after it latches. The motor is under the latch on the body side. to test it, push a philips screwdriver shank into the latch like it was grabbing the trunk pull down motor to see if it triggers the motor to operate

How to repair pull down motor on 1994 cadillac deville?

Thjese are kind of tricky systems #1 if someone has slammed the trunk closed this can break the motor drive transmission housing it is plastic #2 this system uses a limit switch so as the motor rises from being open it stops at the top and clicks the reversing switch then when it closes it latches against the pressure switch that starts the motion. ALL THESE SWITCHES ARE OBSOLETE only can get used but used on Oldsmobile (land yacht) 98 and cameros, firebirds hatch backs.

Trunk pull down

Inoperative trunk pull-down motors are very common on Cadillac. The sytem simply needs to be diagnosed. The most common causes are bad switches on the latch assembly (there are switches on both the body part of the latch and the trunk-lid part of the latch) or broken wires inside the wiring harness that connects the body with the trunk lid. Proper diagnosis required.

my caddy had same problem, but instead of fixing it i just bypassed the pull motor all together. its a realy easy fix just detach the anchor hook in the trunk and move it up one position now the trunk works like any other cars trunk with out electronic assistance motors

1997 Cadillac Deville Concours Trunk will not close!

latch mechanism is probably motorized. Gently pushing the trunk lid down slides the lid/latch bar into the mechanism. this pushes a tab inside the motorized latch and the drive motor pulls the lid down tight and secure. you may be able to test the latch mechanism by sliding a pen or screwdriver into the latch groove to simulate the lid coming down. if you see the motor drive engage, and pull down the tool, you at least know this is working.

Trunk lid will not close. motor is not catching. Motor is not functioning.

If the latch on the deck lid does not catch your problem is the latch catch. If it closes and does not pull down you will need a pull down switch,
