with the key in the ignition crank the wheel HARD to the right.with your right hand keep pressure on the key jiggle the wheel hard right/left with your left hand it should release.
If they made a right hand drive model you would need to get the front clip, steering, harnesses, dash and interior for it. Then have a body shop remove the front of your van and install the front from the right hand drive. Literally everything from the steering wheel forward would have to be removed in order to make it work. You would be looking a tens of thousands of dollars to make this happen.
Put one hand on the steering wheel and rotate slightly left and right alternatively whilst turning the ignition key at the same time with the other hand. This might release the steering wheel and start ignition.
sounds like a wiring issue...its wiring is tangled with the steering column or steering wheel and it get stretched when u turning full lock.It could be loose connection too.check the wiring harness around steering column and ignition assembly.
grab the steering wheel and turn it left or to the right and sometimes you might have to put a little effort in it but one way the steering wheel will move about 1-2" and as you are moving it with one hand take the other hand and turn the key and it should turn a lot easier.this is a common thing and if you can try to have the wheels straight and try not to use the steering wheel to get in or out of the vehicle and the wheel should not lock and make it so hard on you.you have to use both hands at the same time one moving the wheel and the other one turning the key but start moving the wheel in the in direction that it moves the most then turn the key.
I don't know for a fact but this seems very odd to me that your vehicle would not have a steering wheel lock. Further, it is more odd that the wheel would lock unexpectedly while driving. Obviously, you cannot drive it in this condition. I recommend you take the car to the Ford Dealer and have them repair it even if it means replacing the steering column. You certainly don'twant the thing locking up while you are driving ... all sorts of terrible pictures come to my mind ... running into oncoming traffic ... off the right hand side of the road ... off the bridge into the valley below ... into a group of chldren waiting for the bus ...
Sounds like the steering wheel is locked.
Grasp the steering wheel with your left hand and wriggle the steering wheel whilst at the same time gently turn the ignition lock with the key. (For left hand drive)
Lift the front of the car and remove the front wheels. Check all rubber bushings and linkages. Compare each side with each other. Check the steering control arms and the ball joints for any play. Check the rack is securely mounted. Swing the steering from full lock to left, inspect everything and then full lock to the right with full inspection. Check your power steering for any leaks etc.
