Occasionally, about every 6 to 8 times tried, the engine will turn but not start. If I turn the key off for about 3 seconds, it usually starts within a few turns. Do you know what can cause this?

A year, make, model, and engine size would help but I will through this at you.

Instead of just trying to start the car turn the key to the run position and wait 3 seconds. Turn the key off and immediately turn the key back to the run position and wait another 3 seconds. Turn the key off then try to start. Do this every time you try to start the car. If you symptom never occurs when you start the vehicle like this than I would suggest taking a closer look at the fuel system.

When I open the driver door the car starts honking and the tns relay starts ticking and the car will not turn over how can i fix this problem?

Reset security system. On some cars, insert key, turn to "on" without trying to start and wait 10 or 15 minutes. Turn key off, then try to start car. If this doesn't work, you might try telling us what you are working on.

When i turn the start key jn my Nissan Primers (52 reg)it tries to start then a click is heard and the electrics turn off. I turn the key off and it all resets, i try starting again and a click is heard...

The clicking usually means that the battery does not have enough charge to start the engine. Try just turning on the ignition and starting the windscreen wipers. If they move really slowly then your batter is low. Try recharging the battery for a few hours using a car battery charger. Try to the start the engine again after it is fully charged. If this works but then the battery goes flat again, you may have a problem with the alternator, or the battery is not correct for the car (the bigger the engine, the heavier duty the battery.

1995 Cavalier Z24 Car Wont Start

You either have a bad solenoid on your starter OR a bad ignition switch as these are the only two things that can cause the symptom you describe... I lean to the solenoid first, RARELY does an ignition switch sieze up in the start position but it is a possibility. Several national chain parts stores can test the starter for you (GM starters have the starter solenoid mounted directly to the starter and you need to remove the starter to get to it, so you would take the whole unit in to test it... REMEMBER to disconnect the battery first!)

Key stuck in ignition

Be sure its all the way in park or try neutral. Its possible that security system does not recognize the key. Is security light flashing or on steady? Shut all doors and windows, trunk, hood, turn off all accessory's,roll down drivers window, turn key off and remove for at least 1 minute, insert key into ignition, try to start leaving key to run position for 20 minutes, turn key to off, wait 15 seconds, try to start again leaving key to run, wait 20 minutes, turn key off, wait 15 seconds, try to start, again leaving key to run, wait 20 minutes, turn key off, wait 15 seconds, try to start. This should relearn key code. It may relearn after 1 learn cycle and start if system is ok. Hope this helps and that the weather is dry and warm for this procedure! This is not always a fix, but works most of the time.
