SOURCE: Stuck in 5th gear

That just recently happened to me. If your stick wont move into any of the gears, then you need a clutch. But if you can shift into the gears but dont go anywhere, then you need a new transmission.

2002 Ford explorer XLS no reverse only goes forward in 3rd gear

your 2002 Ford Explorer XLS is only going forward in 3rd gear and not reversing, it could be caused by several issues. Here are a few possible causes:
  1. Transmission control module (TCM): The TCM controls the shift patterns for the transmission, and if it is not functioning properly, it could cause the transmission to become stuck in 3rd gear.
  2. Shift solenoids: The shift solenoids control the flow of fluid to the transmission, and if one or more of them are not functioning properly, it could cause the transmission to become stuck in 3rd gear.
  3. Valve body: The valve body controls the flow of fluid to the transmission, and if it is clogged or malfunctioning, it could cause the transmission to become stuck in 3rd gear.
  4. Linkage: The linkage connects the shifter to the transmission, and if it is loose or damaged, it could cause the transmission to become stuck in 3rd gear.
  5. Automatic transmission filter and fluid: If the filter is clogged or the fluid is dirty or low, it could cause the transmission to become stuck in 3rd gear.
It's important to keep in mind that these are just a few possible causes and that there may be other issues that are preventing your Ford Explorer from going into reverse. It's best to take it to a qualified transmission specialist if you're unable to diagnose the issue.
It's also important to note that some of these steps require a certain level of mechanical knowledge and experience. If you're not comfortable with checking these items, it's best to consult a professional mechanic.if i was able to help my cashapp $ralphpapi thank you have a blessing day

02 ford ranger transmission slips on small incline when put in park.

Check your transmission fluid level. Add if it is low. Your Ranger may at some point need a transmission rebuild. This involves pulling the transmission from beneath the truck and replacing the individual gears. Rebuilds are needed when the gear teeth (the grooved serrated edge of a gear) begin to wear. When this happens the gears cannot engage completely and the transmission will begin to slip.

When i start the truck and put into gear theres no problems going into gear. but when it warms up i got nothing. When you put it in gear the motor ideals down. So it knows its in gear but i still have...

It could be a vacuum problem or a cracked vacuum line or stuck modulator switch its hard to say or even a bad interlock switch. You say you had it sitting for 6 years thats not good to do .If you can get to a automatic transmission place have it flushed and replace the filters . There is problley nothing wrong except lack of use and a cracked vacuum line or stuck switch but flush it and replace the fluid with the correct transmission fluid is makes a defferance genaric fluid is not good it needs the be speific to your transmission to have the clutches perform correctly

Wrench light is coming on and display reads ODO Error, no power in Drive, can only go in Reverse

My 2008 Ford Edge had the same error with the same issue - no power in drive, will only go in reverse. My Ford Dealer is replacing a speed sensor and a turbine sensor. They also recommended a transmission flush and re-programming. Total estimate is 4-5 hours plus parts - about $1,000.

My 2001 ford galaxy automatic does not at all go well i can be drive along and if i accelerate a bit harder it seems to slip out of gear and jump people have told me i need a new gearbox others say it...

what i would try first is a transmission flush. not just a transmission service where 3-4 quarts of fluid is replaced but all of the fluid. you could do this yourself and at the same time replace the filter. drop the pan and change the filter, then remove the bell housing plate and locate the drain plug on the torque converter. allow all fluid to drain. reinstall drain plug and pan, and fill with fluid. there are also some after market transmission additives that can restore some of the original ooomphh. good luck

2005 escape auto transmission maintenance

You will have to pull the pan off the bottom of the trans, the filter is inside, this is a very messy job and you will most likely get trans fluid everywhere, I would suggest a shop do this unless you have a good floor jack and 4 jack stands, you will also need a large drain pan to catch the fluid. If you do this job do not overfill the trans, get it hot before you top it off with fluid, add 2 quarts right away and then keep adding until it is just below the fluid full line on the dip stick.

PS the other post is a fluid flush and does not include a pan removal or filter change.
