I would run your ground wire to the motor make sure you have a good clean surface when you do it. there should be a secandary wire for the ground the goes to the body.

SOURCE: where is the intake air temp sensor on a 2003

its build into the MAFS aka AIR FLOW METER at the airbox. you will see a connector plugged into the air box at the top, by the harmonica looking tube. that is the air flow meter, which has the temp sensor built into it. you can not buy the sensor separate. you have to buy the whole piece (MASF) which in your case runs around 500 big ones.
