Great answer
my guess, op simple turns key to on, and is not really wiggling it.
just doing the normal thing. to start car.
then fails to ask a real question, just a statement in fact.
what does it mean.
what do i do (get car serviced as the opr. guide states)
what tests to do, if DIY savvy, RTM?
just 4 bucks to read it .
https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/10182-2007-xl7-service-manual.aspx

what is a good guess? (my guess is loose cam drive.)
all my guesses are useless..... car unseen or inspected.
3.6L V6. GM LY7 engine
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_High_Feature_engine#LY7
Suzuki calls this the N36A engine.
with VVT cam drive
if the chain gets loose it can fail. this.
and lost more....
get it serviced?
or the tensioner is bad.? (wild useless guess 2)
x marks the spot?

DTC P0008: Engine Position System Performance Bank 1

DTC P0009: Engine Position System Performance Bank 2

Circuit/System Description

The engine control module (ECM) tests for a misalignment between both camshafts on one bank of the engine and the crankshaft. The misalignment would be at an idler sprocket for either bank or at the crankshaft. Once the ECM learns the position of both camshafts on one bank of the engine, the ECM compares the learned values to a reference value. The ECM will set a DTC if both learned values for one bank of the engine are exceeding a calibrated threshold in the same direction. Wiggling the key has nothing to do with this DTC .

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects that both camshafts on either bank of the engine are mis-aligned with the crankshaft for more than 4 seconds or a cumulative of 50 seconds.

Diagnostic Aids

Inspect the engine for any recent engine mechanical repairs. An incorrectly installed secondary timing chain can cause this DTC to set.

A single failed camshaft actuator or actuator solenoid will not cause this DTC to set. This diagnostic algorithm is designed to detect an alignment condition between a primary intermediate sprocket and the secondary timing chain, or the alignment between a primary intermediate sprocket and the crankshaft. Either condition would cause the camshaft timing for both cams on one bank to be off an equal number of degrees.

The presence of DTCs P0008 and P0009 along with P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 indicates a possible condition with the primary timing chain and the alignment between both intermediate sprockets and the crankshaft. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC).

Observing the desired and actual camshaft angle parameters, with a scan tool before a DTC sets, may help to isolate whether a condition is specific to one camshaft, one bank, or caused by a condition with the primary crankshaft timing.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Inspect the timing chains and tensioners for excessive wear or misalignment.

  2. If you find a condition with the timing chains or tensioners, repair as necessary.

  3. Inspect the crankshaft reluctor wheel for being mispositioned on the crankshaft.
If you find a condition with the crankshaft, repair as necessary.

No, the only way to get the engine codes out of this car is to get the codes scaned. Auto zone offers free engine code scans. Hope this helped =)

P0008 on a 09 chevy traverse the timing chain was done at 59k the its 105k now .. is that a timimg chain issue or soleniod actuator replaced instead?

This information comes from my GM Shop Service Manual, Revised November 2014: "Code P0008-the Engine Control Module (ECM) tests for misalignment between both camshafts on one bank of the engine & the crankshaft. The misalignment would be at an idler sprocket for either bank or at the crankshaft. Once the ECM learns the position of both camshafts on one bank of the engine, the ECM compares the learned values to a reference value. The ECM will set a DTC if both learned values for one bank of the engine are exceeding a calibrated threshold in the same direction". Technician should check for: Stretched timing chain, Crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced with top dead center (TDC), Timing chain

Code p0019 p0018 p0008

P0019: Cam/Crankshaft Pos. Correlation Sensor B - Bank 2
P0018: Cam/Crankshaft Pos. Correlation Sensor A - Bank 2
P0008: Engine Position System Performance (Bank 1)

P0019 & P0018
- Dirty Oil
- Engine mechanical problems
- Timing belt jumped teeth

P0008
- Engine mechanical problems
- Incorrect timing chain
- Stretched timing chain
- Failed camshaft actuator or actuator solenoid

The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the position of both camshafts and the crankshaft. The ECM performs a test for misalignment between both camshafts on one bank of the engine and the crankshaft. During the test the ECM learns the position of the camshafts and the crankshaft. While the engine is idling, the ECM compares the position of both the camshafts and the crankshaft with the learned value. The ECM will set the P0008 code if both learned values for one bank of the engine are exceeding a calibrated threshold in the same direction.

Hi i have a 2007 dodge caliber with check engine light on- the error code is p008 - can you help me understand the issue?

could that be P0008? I'm not showing the code you've listed, but if you reply to this feed I will help you out If it is the code I listed, then its this , P0008 Engine Position System Performance (Bank 1) This error basically means the engine is out of Sync. The Camshaft and Crankshaft are out of position or at the very least think they are. Engine timing may be out and thus your engine is in danger of complete destruction. At the very least a camshaft sensor maybe down. Take the vehicle to a mechanic so they can check the timing issues

Error code p008 what is it ?

The code is a DTC P0008 "Engine Position System Performance Bank 1".There are actually 3 timing chains. This code activates if there is a misalignment at an idler sprocket for either bank or at the crankshaft.
