My alternator making a noise - 1995 Cadillac DeVille

Yes I would say alternator is faulty

Sometimes it does. Make sure the noise is really coming from the alternator. I would pull the alternator off the car and take it to Autozone to have them test it for free. The noise should be present there too.

Soounds like you need a new/higher amp alt.

THE ALTERNATORS ON THESE VEHICLES HAVE AN OVERRUNNING CLUTCH ON THE PULLEY,AND CAN MAKE A NOISE WHEN SHUT OFF VEHICLE..OPEN THE HOOD,SART ENGINE,THEN GET SOMEONE ELSE TO SHUT ENGINE OFF..LOOK INTO SLOTS OF ALTERNATOR AND SEE IF INTERNAL OF ALTERNATOR STILL SPINS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF..I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE..IF SO..REPLACE ALTERNATOR
