Behind the engine there is "heater control valve" that's the most common fault. you need a hook( make one with clothe hanger).
pull it up and see ( as soon as turned engine on start leaks but engine warmed up stop leaking). $19.00 at Rockauto

It could be consumed by the engine and exited out the exhaust pipe.

SOURCE: where are the hoses that run to radiator to

I don't have a diagram, but your problem is the oil cooler underneath the intake on top of the engine. Remove the intake, and the cooler is right there in between the heads. Easy to change once you get the intake off. This is a VERY common problem on Cateras, and the symptom of it is oil in your coolant. I have a 1998 Catera and had the same issue.

SOURCE: I have a 1998 Cadillac

Hello: The oil cooler is not in the radiator. The oil cooler is under the intake manifold which has to be removed to replace the oil cooler.

I have a 1998 cadillac deville ,how can I tell if

You have a Cadillac! You can assume that the thermostat is bad, the intake manifold is leaking and that you have a connecting rod or 2 going bad. Caddy engines do not last without constant maintainance.
You can spray water on the intake while the engine is running....if the noise goes away, you have a leak.

Oil in water

if it is oil .you should notice the oil level drop ,even a small amount ,this would indicate a blown head gasket. but if it is transmission fluid it will be the oil cooler in the bottom of the radiator that cools the transmission fluid .has sprung a leak which is easily fixed at a radiator service centre, the headgasket is a bit bigger job but no real drama .radiator people will be able to tell you if it is oil or tranny fluid

Coolant leak

You should be able to, so yes. If you have a coolant leak the pressure will build and slowly decrease or it will not get to the correct pressure. Unless the leak is in the radiator cap itself as the pressure tester generally uses a different cap.
