SOURCE: failsafe engine mode light comes on, codes

Just a quick mention - for about a month my XK8 low coolant light came on intermittently. This week with no notice while driving normally I got Stability Control Fail and FailSafe Engine Mode and wtih great difficulty got the car back to where I started from (less than a mile). Two days later (when got time) and after a bit of research, I tried it again - same problem and a very unhappy engine. I then disconnected the battery for 15 minutes (probably more) to clear the engine codes as well as check all the wiring and vacuum stuff I could under the hood (at a Jaguar master mechanic's recommendation). No problems found but the car would start and immediately stall with the air intake hose disconnected from the intake butterfly. After I reconnected the air intake hose, she started and purred like normal. The problem is the BATTERY... It is low - I've known it for a LONG time BUT it always started right up and never skipped a beat. I intend to replace it tonight but fully expect that's the issue. I've had the car 6 years (it's a 98) and had NO problems except a dead taillight asembly.

Hope this is of value...

SOURCE: My 2000 Jag S type also keeps saying failsafe mode?

fail safe mode is something the vehicle computor will go into when there is a problem with the vehicle it allows u to get off the highway or road safely you need to take vehicle to repair shop or your dealer which ever u prefer Failsafe engine mode on a 2000 jaguar s type is caused by a stopped up throttle body. Jaguar says not to clean the throttle body since it has a protective coating to help keep deposits from accumulating. You can clean the throttle body as long as you use ONLY throttle body cleaner that states it is safe to use with a protective coating. The butterfly valve in the throttle body will actually stick not allowing air to flow into the manifold causing failsafe engine mode to kick in reducing the amount of power your engine will produce. To solve the issue just clean out your throttle body, it will cost you around $5 dollars and take 1 hour of your time.

SOURCE: 01' Jaguar XJR Starter location?

If you get just a click you should first check battery charge and all battery connections. The click is probably the solenoid kicking in but without enough battery to turn over the engine.

SOURCE: OBD code: 1576 is generated.

Hi,

When the failsafe light comes on the PCM has detected a fault and goes into a restricted mode to prevent damage to the engine and transmission. It can be a brake switch, accelerator pedal problem or possibly a fault with the electronic throttle.

As you have already scanned and got 1576,this code is for the pedal position sensors. The usuall cause is the accelerator pedal itself as all the sensors are internal in the pedal. The cost of the part is around $475.The pedal is easy to replace as you need to remove two 10mm nuts and one wire connector.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Kindly accept my solution.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!.

2010 Fusion throttle response

First, it is under warrantee I assume

The wrench light as I hope you found in your
owners manual, is an indication of a fault
code set,if the light stays on. Even if it went
off, the data can be found with a professional
scan tool, unless you disconnect the battery
or clear the codes. Never do that. You need
them to diagnose the issues

You went into ETC Failsafe, by the sounds of it

That could be a bad ignition coil
Rare possiblity, the TPS or Throttle Body Motor
the vehicle is too new for anything but coil issues

Need those codes

You know we have had these OBD Systems since
1983 model, that is 30 years, lots of time to get up to
speed on how things work

My ford explorer 2005 has a engine failsafe mode

Check engine light on , failsafe mode . The first thing to do would be to hook up a scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . Was the vehicle overheating ? Failsafe mode will shut the vehicle off to save the engine if it is over heating . Do you know if the vehicle has electronic throttle control ? Was their a yellow wrench symbol lit on the instrument cluster as well ?

I have a 2003 Jaguar XJR V8 Supercharge, and the ASC trac not available and Failsafe engine mode sign came on. The car engine shut down and I was able to restart the car, it happened when the car was...

As most likely know the engine in your Jag is controlled by a computer, when it senses a serious fault in any of the systems it monitors it can trigger a shut down with a restart, the shut down and needed restart is the same as rebooting a computer for a problem that has occurred in the system. What must be done now is to have the local dealer or a very well equipped shop run a scan of the computers memory, there will be fault codes stored for they event and warning lights. So get it tested.

Coding a 2106 and a 2135 on 2006 Ford Expedition. Replaced the Throttle monitor sensor and cleaned the throttle body. Drove car and it ran good but next time it did the same thing. Engine failsafe and...

You need to determine if the ETC Failsafe is from a
bad throttle body motor (TACM) or coil misfires that are
putting it into failsafe.

The TPS Sensor you replaced, wasn't likely the issue.

Failsafe engine mode Asc Trac Not Available

I had the same issue...I went to Auto Zone and got a diagnostic...Came back that my Throttle Position Sensor was faulty...However after taking it to the dealer, and paying 135.00 for THEIR diagnostic...You can't simply buy the sensor. You have to buy a new Throttle Body at 902.00 + Tax atleast here in Vegas. I hope it's not your problem, but go get a FREE diagnostic first.
