Ok I put in a new compressor charged it up drove down the road it stopped working . I straight wired it the ac to battery my ac works

check the resistor block; this resistor block controls the ground side of the fan motor, some caddys used a digtal display and on those the power relay also control power if was normaly found under the hood next to the wiper module some were under the dash.

You have to start by testing the pressure in the system. If it was cycling a lot and then quit it sounds like you developed a leak somewhere and once it fell below the low pressure switch it will not come on.
The system works with a high and low pressure switch that will cut out if the pressure is too high or low. When the system looses pressure it will fall below the low while running, turning off the compressor, When the compressor is off the high side and low side equalize out bringing the stationary pressure above the low limit, turning the system on again. This cycle will repeat until there is not enough pressure when equalized to turn the system back on.
If the pressure is good, go next to the relay, it should be located on the fire wall. if the relay is right, then you need to determine if it is high or low pressure switch shutting it off. IF it is the high, you probably have a restriction in the system, You could also have a problem with the compressor. With the car not running manually turn the clutch and see how much play, smell the area and smell if there is a burnt odor, then try to turn the armature that goes into the compressor. see if it is frozen.

check the alternator fuse that can be a fuse link by the battery pole, check alternator voltage on the alternator red wire or connector,it should the same as on the battery ,check ground wires for loose intermitent contact

In my 1990 Cadillac Deville there is a sticker that says that one can reset the computer that controls the compressor by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting.
Did you disconnect the battery to reset the a/c system?
The symptoms you are describing lead me to believe that there is a safety feature that prevents the compressor from engaging when the compressor has been run for any length of time without at least .5 lbs. of freon in the system.
You said that you had to run a hot wire to charge it up with freon. But, if you ran it without freon, it may have automatically invoked the 'safety' feature.
I have seen this happen on my 1990 cadillac. I haven't had any problems on my 1997 Cadillac Limousine, because I never had a low charge on that car.
