    Hello

I did not try starting fliud, but in thinking about the sounds in cab when turning on key . I do not hear any clicking , the glow plug light in dash comes on then off as always. Are there any other fuses other than under dash drivers side? This truck has less than 100,000 miles. My novice thinking seems to lean in the direction of an electrical problem that's why I changed the glow plug relay which did not work.

    Thank you all, Les Jr

Sounds like you have no compression amego 7.3 do that but check the glow plugs with an ohm meter, if the glow plugs to shine it won't run, and whil your at it check your oil level if it's high your fuel pump just craped out.

Where is the glow plug controller located on 7.3 f250

Your glow plug relay is located on the top of the engine on the right side toward the front. Some models there are 2 solenoids. A large one toward the front and a smaller one right behind it. The glow plug relay is the smaller one toward the rear. The larger front one is the intkae heater relay. To test the glow plug relay turn engine to on. dont start it. both of the large terminals should have power with key on. then turn engine off. only one large terminal should have power. If when you turn engione to on you only have power on one side then go to this test. Turn engine on and test smaller wire. it should have power. If it does replace the relay. If the smaller wire does not have power you have an ignition problem or power (wiring) problem to the relay.

How do i replace my VW SHARAN 02 glow plug relay. and what is it. i have been told that the glow plug relay is going. Could you please tell me what a glow plug relay is and what it does??? Also do i need...

the glow plug relay is a little black box normally located in the fues box, the relay regulates power to the glow plugs, if the relay is not functioning correctly the plugs will not heat enough or, you will have to allow a longer time to let them heat up, it acts like a switch as such, when you turn on your ignition it switches over to make a contact inside, which inturn starts the heating prosess of the glow plugs when they are at the correct tempreture or the onbored computer detects they are it then switches back , without it , say just using a fuse instead, your glowplugs will just get hotter and hotter till they melted, and no you dont have to change the glow plugs hope this helps, ime not good at explaining stuff in writing lol

Can anyone tell me where to find the glowplug relay, it's a 7 prong relay, on a 2002 vw beetle 1.9 diesel no turbo ? allready been under the dash and checked all the relays, none of which are 7 prong,...

Above the Relay Panel is the Auxiliary Relay Panel. Has thirteen positions in it.
6 across the top, 7 across the bottom.

Across the bottom the Glow Plug Relay is the fourth one over from the left. It is Number 10.

My ECM is not comunicating with my glow plug relay. I replaced ecm and still get no power to my glow plugs. I tried an ecm from another 02 F-350 PS and it works fine but the programs in the two ecm's are...

As I understand these systems the ECM is not what powers the glow plug relay. Any kind of engine controls happen after the engine starts.

There should be a power relay which feeds the juice to the glow plug relay. When you turn the keyswitch to start and the light for the glow plugs goes out you should hear a clicking as the glow plug timer cycles juice to the glow plugs.

The glow plug side is a separate system from the fuel management side. Someone should check the glow plugs to see if each is good. The diesel system used to be simple and it sounds like you are complicating what should be a simple repair. I could be wrong, but it does not sound like the Dealer is selling you the parts you need.

A diesel needs a heated combustion chamber to initially fire and then it runs by compression. Perhaps if you change the power relay from the vehicle you removed the ECM from and tried it in your truck it would work with your old ECM.

I have change the glow plug relay its brand new bt i didnt change the glow plug will that cause it not to start

The operatoin of the glow plugs heat up the combuston chamber before turning over the engine. ONce the fuel hits the combustoin chamber , The fuel will ignite.

The diesel engine only runs on air and fuel .

The glow plugs are basically a resistor that heats up the combustion chamber or pre combustion chamber.

So if the glow plugs are getting power now that the relay is change out , Yes the glow plugs have a major roll in starting the engne.

I hope this was helpful
