My !995 Cherolet Truck Turbo Diesel will stall going down the road or just idling but will always restart. Changed glow plugs, fuel filter, air filter. Service Engine light will come on and it will run fine. Service engine light will go off and it will at some point stall.

Pick up a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, Part # 10330, at your local auto parts store. It has an excellent diagnostic section, check page 1-44. It's a must have for a diyer with a diesel motor. It costs about $20.

1997 7.3 starts idles rough then dies in less than a minute

A 1997 7.3 diesel engine that starts, idles rough, and then dies within a minute can be caused by a variety of issues. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Fuel system: The fuel system is a common cause of this issue. Check the fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel lines, and injectors for any signs of blockages or damage. If any of these components are faulty, they can prevent the engine from receiving sufficient fuel and cause it to stall.
  2. Glow plugs: Glow plugs are used to heat the combustion chamber in diesel engines to aid in cold starting. If the glow plugs are not functioning properly, it can cause rough idle and stalling. Check the glow plug relay and individual glow plugs for proper functioning.
  3. Air intake: A clogged air filter or intake system can restrict air flow to the engine, causing it to run poorly and stall. Check the air filter and air intake system for any signs of blockages.
  4. Electrical system: A faulty battery, alternator, or starter can cause the engine to stall. Check the battery voltage, alternator output, and starter function to ensure that they are all working properly.
  5. Sensors: Faulty sensors, such as the crankshaft position sensor, can cause the engine to stall. Check the sensors for proper function and replace any that are faulty.
If none of these issues seem to be the cause of the problem, it may be necessary to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic for a diagnostic inspection to determine the underlying issue.

2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara diesel cut out whilst driving, didn't restart for 10 mins, then drove for 15 before cutting out again.

1.9 L F9Q I4 turbo-diesel( none in USA) DDIS
stalls. has many causes but lost diesel pressure.
fuel filters packed up. (even air filter too)
in your mind pretend filter 99 % packed up. see?
dont need Glow plug to drive a hot engine. start yes, and when warm engine they turn off. not needed now.
filters top my list for sure fuel
The F9x is the direct injected Diesel version and also features an 8-valve SOHC configuration.
high pressure injector pump or its regulator bad.
intermittent or weak pump.
so scanning the PCM finds not one DTC error.? buy scan tool
and scan it at stall?

1990 Buick Park Ave.

clean the idler on the intake and also clean the throttle sensor, it would also be best to change the air filter and clean the maf sensor. Idler does more than just idle vehicle it controls low revs, and drop down from reves. throttle sensor tell ecu what air to add to the fuel. and the MAF tells ecu how much air is coming into the intake. also check for broken cracked vacuum lines.

1998 cummins diesel idels fine but stalls less than a 1/4 mile down road.

Have you checked or changed the fuel filter? Will it start and idle after it stalls? I have seen dirty filters or filters that have colapsed cause a similar condition before.

Good Luck

INTERMITENT STALLING AT SPEEDS OF 50 TO 75 MPH on my '95 FORD EXPLORER XLT 4.0 LITER 6 CYLINDER there is no sputtering or any indication prior to the stalling to let me know its going to stall. I'm just on...

Have you checked your fuel filter or fuel pump as these can cause your engine to to shut off, but there usually is some sort of warning, but not always.
