Why won't Convertible top won't go down 08 Sebring

Top makes a humming noise after pushing switch for a few seconds and then stops. Windows also drop a little and after humming stops go back up

The humming is the motor trying to open roof , the windows dropping is a normal part of the operation , without seeing the vehicle it's difficult to be exact but unless there is a latch /lever that has to be pulled prior to pressing the switch i'd recommend getting a auto electrician to look at it , could just be a relay not powering up enough keep me posted if you wish

SOURCE: I have a 1997 Sebring convertible,and when i try

the windows need to go down on this vehicle because if they don't there could be stress on the windows and they could break.

SOURCE: Lowering convertible top

You have to pull down the visors and release the top handles to free the top. Hit the button enough to raise the top slightly and put the handles back in the closed position. Then you can put the top all the way down. There is a built in safety feature, where the window go down slightly as the top starts to open.

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is your motor/pump/reservoir combination.
With the top down, fill the reservoir to overflowing with ATF.
Cycle the system a few times and repeat.
Do this till the reservoir will take no more fluid.
Check the lines and cylinders for leaks. If you replace any lines or cylinders, always do them in pairs.

There could be Low hydraulic fluid level in pump reservoir. That should be located around your spare tire.

2010 sebring convertible top won't go down

when you are looking at the motor to your top, on the right side were the wires are coming out of the end. you need to tack that off, you only need that little piece on the inside of that cap is where the problem lies. cheap workmanship there are to fuses and two wires that create a path for current to bring power from your relay (basically it is built very weak, and with age and wear the already cheap weak wired motor wires come loose)there are two wires can anybody guess what for? that's right up and down....so if you have tried everything and can't seem to understand why it still doesn't work I asure you this is the problem

When i open the top on my 1996 chrysler sebring convertible i notice that the front windows go down but the rear windows don't. is this normal or do they have a reset so they could go down a bit.

I had the same car,when we put the top down we had to hold the botton for the top in the down posistion until the back windows were down.

How do you take the drivers door apart to repair the power window lift? We are uncertain on how to take the door apart to get to the window motor without breaking it.

There are two screws in the arm rest. And the rest of the door panel is held on by plastic clips on the back side. Start at the bottom of the door panel and pull out. The door panel will feel like it is going to break but the clips will break way before the door panel. Every door panel that I have taken off I have broken at least one of the clips. You can get the new clips at Autozone. But make sure that you take a broken one with you. Because they have a bunch of different sizes. When you get to the top of the door you will have to lift up to get it all the way off. Then you will have to unplug the wiring for power windows, locks, and mirrors.

2002 Chrysler convertible Top wont raise - Suspect motor . How do i get to the motor to inspect

The body control module controls all the functions of the convertible top. The body control module supplies a multiplexed voltage of approximately 90% of ignition voltage to the power top switch. Through a series of resistors the power top switch switches the circuit to ground depending on the position of the switch. The BCM then supplies the ground path for the up or down relay as requested. The power top switch has a 4.7K-ohm diagnostic resistor that allows the BCM to detect a possible open circuit.

so we need to pull codes to properly diagnose the system

however, in the mean time here is some more information you may like...

The convertible has a feature that allows the operator to lower all four windows and lower the top at the same time. This is accomplished by pressing the power top switch to the second detent. Through the multiplexed circuit of the power top switch the BCM will supply the ground for the window drop relay assembly.
The window drop relay assembly is comprised of four separate relays that are in series with the power window circuits. The relay assembly is located in the driver door

I'd start by looking at the switch and replay plus possible hydraulic level.

I rented a 2009 sebring convertible but it has no owners amnual. How do I put the soft top down?

There should be a button on both the dash and your key fob that you can push to automatically put the top down. Make sure the 'top holder' is open and ready in the trunk before you push the button.

Lowering convertible top

There should be latches you have to pull first to unlock the top from the windshield. Pull down the sun visors, the handles should be under them. Then push the power top switch.
