2006 aveo throttle body issues

My 2006 Chevy Aveo revs up the RPM's upon start up and eventually goes back to normal. Recently it has not been responding well when taking off from 1st gear and wants to stall out sometimes. I backed out of the driveway and put into neutral and the RPM's started to bounce up and down for about 15 seconds and slowly went to normal. Please advise what this may be and how to fix it.

What engine does it have ? Could have come with 5 different ones . If it has the 1.6 L engine . has electronic throttle control.
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system is used to improve emissions, fuel economy, and driveability. The TAC system eliminates the mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. The TAC system eliminates the need for a cruise control module and idle air control motor. The following is a list of TAC system components:
• The accelerator pedal assembly includes the following components:
- The accelerator pedal
- The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 1
- The APP sensor 2
• The throttle body assembly includes the following components:
- The throttle position (TP) sensor 1
- The TP sensor 2
- The throttle actuator motor
- The throttle plate
• The engine control module (ECM

Check your fuel pump presure. Pump is in the tank. Also try and loosen the fuel cap, the tank vent may be stopped up.

SOURCE: Will not read codes from the OBD connector

Yes the OBD Connector is fused. The fuse is a 15 AMP mini and located in the Fuse block on the Left hand end of the Instrument Panel requiring the Drivers Door to be opened for access. The fuse is located near the bottom of the Fuse Panel. It probably also feeds the Cigar Lighter circuit.

Testimonial: "It was the cigar lighter fuse.Strange that it ties in with the OBD, but it fixed the problem. Thank you for the advice."

SOURCE: idler is too high on start-up, goes up to 2.5-3

I bought my 2004 aveo 49 miles. I've had several issues with the car. But recently I been experiencung high idle at start up and clutching. I change IAC. Plugs and wireds. Nothing worked. Today the high idle became constant. It was a metal bubble flex tube near the IAC unit that goes to the exhaust stuff down behind the motor. It apparently was cracked cause today it broke causing the constant high idle sound like a vacumn. We blocked it off with a stick to get the idle back down to 900 rpm instead of 3-4000 rpm took we can get to auto zone for high temp hose per Chevy dealer. I hope this helps someone cause it was fustrating and costly.

Where is the throttle actuator located on a 06 Chevy aveo 1.6 four cylinder

If you can find your engines air filter housing, follow the larger intake hose toward the engine. Where the hose ends and is attached to the engine is your throttle body assembly. Look for the wire harness connector attached to the throttle body and you will see the throttle actuator module which controls the throttle plate.
Good luck.

How do you replace a throttle position sensor on a 2006 Chevy Aveo

seddy29732_0.jpgThis is a picture of your throttle position sensor. It is located on the throttle body, where the air inlet tube enters the intake manifold. Simply unplug the wires, remove the bolts holding it in place, and replace it with the new unit. Hope this helps!

We have a 2006 Chevy Aveo and it is having a problem staying started throughout the day. We try to start it in the mornings and it spits and sputters trying to remain started but eventually stops. Once we...

Start with replacing the fuel filter. The Aveo fuel filter is located passenger-side rear, in front of the rear tire.

If there is no filter there, then the filter is a non serviceable filter and is integrated with the fuel sending unit. Your going to have to replace the fuel sending unit if the fuel pressure is slow, start with running fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system for the next few fill up's and hope that will clear up the issues your having.

The other thing to is that your IAC (idle air control) valve may be dirty and is stuck close, you can try cleaning it by spraying Throttle body cleaner through the throttle body, paying attention to the IAC passageway. A dirty of faulty EGR valve will also do the same thing.

Start with the simple and inspect to see if you do have a external fuel filter, and inspect the wire leads to the IAC, EGR and clean them with throttle body cleaner. Don't forget to run the fuel injector cleaner through your gas tank.

Thank you for using Fixya and good luck.
