On vehicles with an automatic transmission, software in the powertrain control module (PCM) can cause the drive wheels to lock briefly when the transmission is shifted to neutral and back to drive at speeds over 40 MPH. If the drive wheels lock, loss of vehicle control could occur, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will reprogram the PCM free of charge.
That is 100% correct, ASE class Day 1, class 101. first read the TSB< that is read them and avoid , gross and dangerous condtions like above. its shamefull it even exists. The TCM should never allow it. (by hard logic) if you take a A/T class they teach you how to lock the tranny up with solenoid valves in the wrong state. we did it manually on a bench set up. see, locked. up. avoid that or die.

Why?
first tell what you are doing.
replacing a bad PCM
hacking it?
what?
the PCM can only be programmed at the dealer or independents set up to do so (licensed)
The FSM is clear on that, read it.
