Having problems with my 1998 Pontiac firebird. When I sit with the air on my car sometimes start to shake or even smoke. I don't know if it's the exhausts or something dealing with it breathing. Whatever it is that's making the car not breathe cause while driving car has no pressure backed up until I come to a light and sit for a min. What could possibly be it? Pls help!? I should've gone to school for these situation.

A bunch of things can cause this.
It could be the engine idle speed is too low, can be caused by a faulty Idle Air Control valve. Watch the rev counter when it does it and see if it's very low. See if it rises when you turn off the air con. The air con puts a load on the engine which should be adjusted for by the IAC valve (automatically opens the throttle very slightly to keep the engine speed from getting too low).
Also possible to be fuel pressure, Mass Air Flow sensor, ignition coil, spark plugs or even a blocked air filter.
Is the check engine light on?
Try looking at Pontiac firebird forums. Google search firebird idle faults. Good luck.

I have a 1998 firebird that trys to die when you stop, then reves the engine by it's self.

Reves by it's self , that's the PCM/ECM - engine computer controlling the IAC - idle air control valve . Try some injector cleaner ,fuel system cleaner !

The SERVICE ENGINE SOON light in my 1995 Pontiac firebird has been blinking for about a month and one day it just stayed on. At the same time the engine began to shake and now whenever it starts up it...

If your service engine light is on that means that you can find the problem by having a local garage run an engine diagnostics test,it usually runs around 50 bucks and is much easier than trying to find the problem yourself, and most of the time it is cheaper !

1998 pontiac firebird takes a couple of seconds to start. I can hear the fuel pump kick on and cycle. When it is running it runs smooth. Car does not miss. The exhaust smells very bad.

CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS, OR CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE CATYLITIC CONVERTER ISN'T PLUGGED, AND MAKE SURE THERES OIL, IT COULD BE BURNIN UP. IS THERE BLUE SMOKE, AND ALSO CHECK THE TRANNY FLUID TOO, YOU MIGHT BE SMELLIN OTHER THINGS

Hi!
Firstly clean the air filter.
Secondly the air and fuel mixture is not correct.
Nocking is mostly due to lack of air in fuel mixture.

Looks like you're engine's skipping and it could use a good tune-up, spark plug and wires, distributer cap and rotor, air and fuel filters and you should be in bisness.

1998 Firebird fuel filter

Need more information. Has car been sitting? Is it getting fuel to the intake? ( injector or throttle body?) What engine does it have? What type of carb. does it have? fuel injection, carb., or throttle body? Pull off a plug wire, and check it for spark....does ignition spark? Check timing for jumping. could have jumped timing belt? you need someone to help you visualize and troubleshoot.
