SOURCE: how do I check the transmission fluid of my 98 Isuzu trooper ?

In fact, you can. The large transmission pan has two plugs in the bottom. The higher one is a fill plug. The lower one is a drain plug. The proper procedure for checking the level is: A) Drive vehicle until transmission reaches operating temperature (go for a 30 min drive). B) Park vehicle and apply emergency brake, run gear selector through all gears (engine running, pausing 5 sec.'s in each gear) from Park, down, and back to Park (very important to be in park when checking level). C) Immediately remove the upper fill plug and check level with your finger, it should be just up to the hole, fill as necessary. NOTE: If more than a dribble of fluid drains out when you first open the fill plug then it was overfilled or the procedure was not followed. Use a catch pan under the hole just in case. Filling of the fluid is by means of a small pump and hose, commonly found at auto parts stores.

SOURCE: 2000 ISUZU TROOPER WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. CHECK

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

SOURCE: Isuzu Trooper 1997. Automatic Transmission holds gears too long.

Their is a power and normal drive in trooper's power for pulling a trailer and normal for normal driving. The power drive only changes gear at higher R.P.M. Their is a switch on the plastic cover under the handbrake with p & n their is a light in the dash as well. If you are not aware of this switch then just needs switching over if you are aware of it then its probably the fuse to activate it or a wiring problem with it, Cheers

Testimonial: "I know the switch. But nothing changes when I switch back and forth. No light on the dashboard either. I don't know if it is in normal or power."

SOURCE: change a cv boot on a 1996 isuzu trooper

First their are two different front axles in 1996 troopers. Isuzu changed the 4wd system from auto lock hubs to drive control axle.auto lock hube are on the older trooper's with the light and wiper switches on the dash. The same way to change both. Auto hub remove the six hex. screws slide off the hub remove the sirclip from the driveshaft. Newer hub has 6 alan-head screw's again remove them then the hubcap then the sirclip on the shaft and slide off the round spacer. Next 4 bolts from the lower balljoint and the brake's. Pull out the hub until it clear's the shaft remove the inner boot clips slide the inner boot out the shaft. Clean the grease from the end of the axle then with your fingernail feel along any of the 3 tracks in the axle and near the outer end of the track you will find a wirelike split ring slide a screwdriver under the ring and lever it off . Pull out the drive clean off the grease. You will see a sirclip on the end of the joint remove it and slide off the joint. You can replace either boot from that end. The outer joint is held on with a snap ring on the shaft inside the joint and is not easily removed need a hammer and drift to drive off the end and when removed its hard to get the snap ring on the shaft back into its place. You can change both boots from this end as well. Cheers

My 1998 Isuzu trooper when cold it has delayed shift fom first to second then it shifts ok

sounds like a dirty oil or filter problem. It is taking this long for the viscosity of the oil to change to allow shifting. Run fault codes as well consider having an oil change done on the transmission ( oil colour should be cherry red not tan coloured.)

Can't find the fill or check transmission location on 1996 isuzu trooper 3.2 v6 engine. where is it located? no isuzu mechanic in our area

It's check at the transmission pan, there is two drain plugs, the lower one is to drain transmission fluid, the higher one is to check level, with engine running and in park remove up most drain plug if fluid start to come out level is ok, if no fluid coming out will need to add some till it start to come out.

I have an automatic Isuzu trooper 1996, it shifts wrong

You need to get the transmission serviced. Either the Filter is clogged or something has worn out and needs to be repaired.

Where do you add transmission fluid

i believe your trooper is like my isuzu rodeo which have a sealed transmission which could be checked by yourself by srewing off the bolt on the top of the tranny, or take it to a transmission place and they will charge you about $140 to replace the fluids on it
