SOURCE: my 1999 jetta remote has stopped working.

you should be able to turn off alarm via key in drivers door if not test all doors to make sure they unlock. if any door will not lock that door latch will need replaced if work ok then try disarming alarm from trunk key or from the passanger door. if that works, you may need to have the key recoded to the car.

SOURCE: 97 vw jetta w/aftr mkt. alarm drains battery and disarms on own?

My friend you are faced with a catch 22 problem. The first thing I would like to know is, who installed the alarm system? Did you do it or was it professionally installed. If it wwas professionally installed I would go right back there and discuss the problem with them. It very well could be a defective unit. If you did not have it installed professionally I would disconnect the alarm and see if your battery still get's drained. If so, then the alarm is not the culprit, and you have some hunting to do. If not then you have some testing to do.Next what type of alarm is it? Try to google it. You may be able to find a trouble shooting guide to assist you. I know that you said you just replaced the battery, but the alarm very well may not be the culprit. It could be many other things as a loose fanbelt, bad diodes in your alternator, or some other componet draining your battery.

SOURCE: i have new keys for my 1999 vw jetta tdi, but i

"small"problem. If you don.t have remote control the keys can be programed only with diagnostic equipment. There is another procedure but you need of wiring diagram of the immobiliser to cut off the wire.Means - ignore for ever the immobiliser. Not safety in Belize.Just take your decision.

You need to have the VW dealer or a well equipped VW savvy repair shop scan the body control module (or whatever VW calls it) and see what codes return, it is likely the problem, but hold on you can't jut pop one in it must be programmed for your car.

remove the key from the ignition and press the UNLOCK. its saying the alarm was triggered, eg if door was opened without first using the unlock on the remote. maybe when alarm was armed not all doors were fully closed. or you just reconnected the battery so the door was open without you ever pressing the unlock on the remote(which could be called DISARM the alarm)

My 98 jetta wont start because the alarm is still armed. and i unlocked all the doors but still isnt shutting off. and the car wont start unless the alarm is disarm. how do i just take the whole alarm out....

ok so the same thing just happened with my jetta. So heres what worked for me: take off the door panel (drivers side) and you should see some melted or bunched wires together. just snip them and leave them be. It was either the wires or the sensor that messed everything up. This should work.

VW Jetta alarm malfunction

Go to your local junk or scrapyard and pull them yourself. The dealer charges an average of 90-100 dollars an hour. So a lot of the money they quoted you for was probably for labor

you can buy a factory vw key on ebay and have the dealer program it to your alarm. i had to do it that way when my key broke. it is cheaper than a new one from the dealer. type 01 jetta factory key on ebay.
