Broken hood latch on a 03 Volks Wagon Passat

Use a long flat tip screw driver and a small hammer. have someone pull up on the hood after you pop it from the inside, then while they are holding the hood up use the screw driver and shove the hook that is above the latch bar. when you hit it you will be hitting it to the right

Stick your hand underneath the hood and find the hood latch "hook" that is holding the hood in place. You'll be able to tell its the right part because you'll be able to move it back and forth. Then have someone lift the hood while you move the latch under the hood with your fingers. There isn't a lot of space under the hood between the hood and the frame of the car so finding someone with thin hands and long fingers is probably a good idea. No special parts or even tools needed but still a pain in the ****!!!! I can believe everything on this car is plastic! UGH!!!
