Check to see if your coolant level becomes lower after being driven,Then that's due to a blown head gasket.,and if smoke has a lot oil residues i would shoot for the same damaged area(combination of head & valve job).

More than likely you need new head gaskets.

SOURCE: overheated 2000 vw beetle

does it sound like there is any compression. remove cover on the right side that covers t-belt see if belt might have broken. if cooling system failed could have blow fuse for cooling fans. causing overheating.

My 2002 vw tdi smokes white and has no power

If the vehicle engine got overheated it is possible the head of the engine is cracked, or the intercooler is leaking, depending on the colour of the smoke low fuel pump pressure,
hope this helps.

Vw beetle running hot and we cannot find a leak

The problem sounds like your radiator its 12 years old clogged with sediment and losing pressure at the cap or
vapor loss right through the aluminum you can't see it .Its a mist at driving speeds not at ideal .
Do a pressure test on the system 14.6 lbs per sq " also check the heater core both in and out hoses should be hot and have good water flow .
The problem isn't your water pump .
Also look at your spark plugs take them out . If they are burn white the vehicle is not getting enough fuel .

I have a 2001 VW GTI its smoking white smoke when I press the gas.I was told that if it was the turbo I would lose power.Havent lost any power. What all do I need to check to find the problem?

to make sure if it;s trubo have probem just open Air hose from Air cooler . check if there is oil inside the oil coming from turb , the trubo will not lose power because oil will close the clearance of the main shaft of trubo. you can check engine by open oil filer cap if you have smoke come out . some time valve seal have Damage is if you have history of overheating only

I just purchased a 2000 VW Beetle 1.8 Turbo but, there was no Owner's Manual included with the car. A light has come on my dashboard and i don't know what it's for. It's a blue light in the shape of a...

If the light goes out after engine gets alittle warm, this is normal. Since there is no temp guage, VW uses this light to inform that the engine is cold. When that same light flashes red, it means that the coolant is low or the engine is overheating.
