2008 sonata p0011 code vct solenoid valve location

The service manual description for Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0011 is "Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)." This indicates a problem within the Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system such binding oil pressure from blockage in the Oil Control Valve (OCV) filter. Checking the filter on the OCV would be a good idea but sometimes it can be tricky to locate when only the connector is visible. The other consideration here is that the 2008 Hyundai Sonata has two engine options being the 3.3L V6 and the 2.4L I4; these engine designs are very different therefore the location of the OCV will also be different. For the V6 engine, the Bank 1 OCV is located in the valley on the left cylinder head towards the front of the engine. It has a grey connector with one pink and one white wire. For the I4 engine, the Bank 1 OCV is located at the front left of the cylinder head. The connector has one green/black wire and one brown wire. 2002 Trailblazer, 4.2 I6, code P1345, voltage does not change to cam position actuator 12+ volts all the time?

If this DTC sets, there is a problem with the camshaft position actuator solenoid high control circuit shorted to voltage or the solenoid stuck open.
The PCM sends a pulse width modulated 12 volt signal to a (CMP) actuator solenoid in order to control the amount of engine oil flow to a cam phaser passage.
Do you know what a pulse width modulated signal is ?
Diagnostic Aids
Important: Scan tool control of the CMP actuator solenoid is inhibited when DTC P1345 sets.
The following conditions may cause this DTC to set:
• An improperly torqued harmonic balancer
• A mis-built or mis-timed engine
• A loose or missing crank damper bolt
• The camphaser solenoid stuck open
• The camphaser stuck in a position other than 0 degrees
• The camphaser does not return to 0 degrees within 16 seconds

How to change a csmshsft sensor on a 2008 cadillac srx

Before you replace a part you may or may not need . Why ? What code ? Does the vehicle run ? There has been a lot of confusion on these vehicles with variable valve timing , mixing up cam sensors with camshaft actuators

The presence of DTCs P0008 and P0009 along with P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 indicates a possible condition with the primary timing chain and the alignment between both intermediate sprockets and the crankshaft. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC).

I'm sorry but when dealing with these problems your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop , I have never see a DIY'ER correct the problem with these , an in the end always end up taking it to the dealer .

Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator System
The camshaft position (CMP) actuator system is an electro-hydraulic operated device used for a variety of engine performance and operational enhancements. These enhancements include lower emission output through exhaust gas dilution of the intake charge in the combustion chamber, a broader engine torque range, and improved fuel economy. The CMP actuator system accomplishes this by changing the angle or timing of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft position. The CMP actuator simply allows earlier or later intake and exhaust valve opening during the four stroke engine cycle. The CMP actuator cannot vary the duration of valve opening, or the valve lift.
During engine OFF, engine idling conditions, and engine shutdown, the camshaft actuator is held in the Park position. Internal to the CMP actuator assembly is a return spring and a locking pin. During non-phasing modes of the camshaft, the return spring rotates the camshaft back to the Park position, and the locking pin retains the CMP actuator sprocket to the camshaft

Runs good for a while then shuts off acts like it is running hot at times but when i check it is not hot rebuilt engine new radiator water pump thermostat also at times act like it is not getting gas but...

In the early 80s they incorporated a shutoff solenoid in the event of overheating. What happens is when the engine reaches a critical level it then opens a vacuum solenoid forcing the engine to stall to prevent it causing extreme damage. I am not sure its location on your vehicle but when it happens again, try clamping off some vacuum lines on the solenoids to find out which one clamped will the car start. hope this takes care of things. ps...change your fuel filter, It may be restricting your fuel.

P0011 and P0300 codes on 3.5 altima. Car shakes on idle and low RPM. Changed the cam shaft sensor and the problem persists. What more can I do?

Altima 2013 p0011 and sometimes a p0300
Thought like most its stalling must be the timing control solenoid that tells to advance or retard the overhead cam.
So I changed the solenoid for for overhead cam. BTW it is normally recommended to change all 3 but money limited and the other 2 are difficult from the top.
After traveling for work most of the year 2020 I started my car few days went by and no issue travel more for work and started to have the issue again.
Now winter I didn't want to change them all.

I have an odbc2 i used figured out that nissan altima has its own sensor addres for the timing advance low and behold when the car was working "CS Adv" was stuck at 0 or doing normal advancing and retarding between-10 and +30. When the engine was acting up stalling in idle stalling right after crank stalling at a stop the "CS Adv" was stuck at greater than +35.

The MCU is dmb and smart at the same time.
Never was there an error for timing sensor but I un plugged my suspected sensor !!!little risky!!! With dual overhead cam 2 sensors 50/50 shot. 1 sensor unplug near firewall top of the engine. The engine ran with only hesitation on starting after no stalling ever and the CSAdv was acting normal.

Replaced the faulty sensor an no issues since.

A code P0021 refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module, also called an ECM). That consists of a few different components but the P0021 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is above a set limit (over-advanced), the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. The "A" camshaft is either the intake, left, or front camshaft. A P0021 engine code is basically the same as a P0011 code, except this is for Bank 2, not Bank 1.

Most likely a P0021 DTC will result in one of the following: hard starting, poor idle, and/or stalling. There are potentially other symptoms as well. Of course, when trouble codes are set, the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) illuminates.

Code po410

DTC P0410 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System

Circuit Description
The PCM activates the secondary air injection system by grounding the AIR relay. This energizes the pump and the vacuum control solenoid. As vacuum is applied to the two shutoff valves, fresh air is allowed to pass through them. The AIR pump forces fresh air past the shutoff valves and into the exhaust stream in order to accelerate catalyst operation. The PCM will run up to 3 diagnostic tests using the O2S1 voltage and Short Term FT to verify system operation. The system can be diagnosed during normal secondary air injection operation or the scan tool can activate the system specifically for diagnostic purposes. If an air flow problem is detected this DTC will set. When inactive, the shutoff valve prevents air flow in either direction.

Conditions for Running the DTC
• AIR system commanded ON for more than 20 seconds.

• The IAT is between 1° C and 151° C (32° F and 302° F).

• The ECT is between 5° C and 114° C ( 41° F and 230° F).

• Battery voltage is more than 11.7 volts.

• Engine run time is more than 200 seconds.

• Calculated air flow is more than 11 gps.

• Accumulated flow between 240 cts and 600 cts.

• BLM cell of 16 or 17.

• TPS changes less than 5 percent.

• Stabilization time of more than 1 second.

• Fuel ethanol composition of less than 15 percent.

• DTCs 105, 107, 108, 112, 113, 117, 118, 122, 123, 130, 131, 132, 133, 1133, 134, 171, 172, 178, 179, 201, 202, 203, 204, 300, 336, 340, 341, 506, 507, 601, 602, and 1621 are not set.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
Lean time is more than 1 second during 4 second active test.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminates after two ignition cycles with the malfunction present.

• The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The Freeze Frame and Failure Records buffers stores this information.

• A history DTC is stored.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC
• The MIL will turn OFF after 3 consecutive ignition cycles in which the diagnostic runs without a fault.

• A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm up cycles without a fault.

• A scan tool can clear the DTCs.


Diagnostic Aids
An intermittent may be caused by any of the following conditions:

• A poor connection

• Rubbed through wire insulation

• A broken wire inside the insulation

Thoroughly check any circuitry that is suspected of causing the intermittent complaint. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

If a repair is necessary, refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

This step checks for a restriction in the engine vacuum supply to the AIR shutoff valve.
