If the noise stops after the engine runs for a while ,the oil filter bypass valve may be leaking fit a new filter. If the noise is there at all times you have a faulty valve lifter.

Take it back to whoever did the work and let them find the problem. They should stand behind their work. if that does not work then what kind of noise is it making. If it is a tapping noise then the valves are not adjusted like they should be.

Noise startup

Have your valve lash adjusted. Overhead cams need the lash done every 25-30K otherwise after some time they make a loud ticking sound. If the motor makes a "Knocking" sound, it may be a lower end noise, and there is no adjustment for that.

2002 Ford Expedition 5.4. I'm trying to find out if that clanking noise is a full valve job or blown engine. How much is blown valve job. No smoke or overheating just a lot of clanking noise. How

Take it to a shop, it could be as simple as needing to have the valves adjusted but it could be bad bearings in the lower end. So i would suggest getting it looked at before it gets worse. Btw, check your oil to make sure its full.

How do i fix a ticking noise in a 3800 motor

Its your valves that are making those ticks, check the level of your oil and add if necessary, if this does not help you will need to get a valve job done and possibly a complete top engine rebuild. You can eliminate some of this noise by additives that will give your oil stability and the engine some extra time. Check with your local parts store or mechanics shop

WHEN STARTING TRUCK AND CUTTING IT OF , IT MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS OR MORE.

My experiance tells me you should look at bad gas, timing, then the valves. These all can cause the noise your hearing, the last thing could be piston slap, if your motor is old this maight be the cause.

Just had timing belt and water pump done now the tapping noise has got worse. real loud on start up then it is a constant tapping. been told it could b valves needing adjusting. do u have any sugestions...

what type eng????most likely the valve push rods and lifters need changed......they are probably hydraulic and have "collapsed" over the years...hydraulic valves cannot be adjusted as such but could be needing tightened-but not likely...this i an expesive job and you may want to consider cutting your losses....good luck and hope this helps

1993 Toyota Camry. Noise from engine!

This job can cost about $200/$400 depending who does the work.Yes you have to tahe apart the top of the engine, and the valve cover gaskets can be dobne at the same time.but these are two seperate jobs depending on which engine you have, sometimes they both have to be done when you do lifters.
